Leaveit to Smudge: "King Funeral Turns Political"
http://www.drudgereport.com/flash8.htm

I know many of you won't go there, but you may want to hold your nose and do it... there's a great pic of Bush squirming and Laura grimacing as Rev. Lowry socks it to him. HA!

Today's memorial service for civil rights activist Coretta Scott King -- billed as a "celebration" of her life -- turned suddenly political as one former president took a swipe at the current president, who was also lashed by an outspoken black pastor!

The outspoken Rev. Joseph Lowery, co-founder of Southern Christian Leadership Conference, ripped into President Bush during his short speech, ostensibly about the wife of Martin Luther King Jr.

"She extended Martin's message against poverty, racism and war. She deplored the terror inflicted by our smart bombs on missions way afar. We know now that there were no weapons of mass destruction over there," Lowery said.

The mostly black crowd applauded, then rose to its feet and cheered in a two-minute-long standing ovation.

1. Oh, the horror!
Imagine, addressing politics at the funeral of a political activist. What IS this world coming to?

Don't answer that.

4. Was the race of the pastor necessary to mention?
I'm guessing drudge really means is "how dare the N-word pastor attack Bush"

5. YAY!!
I'm sure Mrs. King would be proud that her last public hours were so fruitful!

What did Bush expect? Only 2% of the Black population like him... but don't forget that margin of error:) As Stephanie Miller is fond of saying, there may be dead and en utero Blacks who hate him too:)

7. Not one Democrat in power had anything political to say
Ted Kennedy's remarks were absolutely beautiful and perfect. If they want to jump on a couple of remarks by citizens, who had every right to say what they said, then that's their problem. BTW, the crowd absolutely LOVED what Carter and Rev. Lowery had to say. Drudge should just get over it!

11. Oh I guess President Carter and the Reverend Lowery should
have had their eulogies pre-approved by Matt Drudge. Yes, we wouldn't want to offend King George. After all, this funeral is all about HIM. :eyes:

13. Well, we could have taken three weeks
to bury the great lady. I suspect she desrved it more than Reagan.

14. Why were the Bushes even invited?
They do NOT care about civil right of ANY minority. Their presence disgraces the memory of the King legacy.
