Feingold : Congress has Lost its Way
http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Feingold_President_breaking_law_0207.html

In a prepared speech advanced to RAW STORY, Senator Russ Feingold (D-WI) will sear President Bush -- and Congress -- on the Senate floor over Bush's warrantless wiretap domestic spying program.

Feingold's speech, in its entirety, follows:

Mr. President, last week the President of the United States gave his State of the Union address, where he spoke of America’s leadership in the world, and called on all of us to “lead this world toward freedom.” Again and again, he invoked the principle of freedom, and how it can transform nations, and empower people around the world.

But, almost in the same breath, the President openly acknowledged that he has ordered the government to spy on Americans, on American soil, without the warrants required by law.

The President was blunt. He said that he had authorized the NSA’s domestic spying program, and he made a number of misleading arguments to defend himself. His words got rousing applause from Republicans, and even some Democrats.

Congress has lost its way if we don’t hold this President accountable for his actions.

4. And its mind, and its integrity and its believability, and its dignity
AND THE MAIN THING -its purpose

Its purpose is NOT to screw any portion of the populace, but to fight for EVERYONE.

Oh, and EACH member of congrees, plus those yahoos in the WH, SWEAR to uphold the Constitution. I suggest we fire up the copy machines and send a copy, MULTIPLE COPIES, to every member of the house, senate and WH..over and over and over UNTIL THEY GET IT RIGHT!.

OK, I am mad today.

9. Every Dem should back up this speech.
Even Repubs know damn well that the Neo Fascist Bush Regime violated the Constitution of the USA! Impeachment of Bush/Cheney is required! All of those that violated the Law need to be indicted ASAP.

12. This should be on permanent kick.....
At the very heart of it, this shows and pinpoints the sickness that has taken over our country. More than saber rattling, it is becoming clearer and clearer what this moment calls for. It is the defining moment for every American. What do we as holders of this promised dream do now? Do you fight like hell to protect our freedoms, or let someone else simply take them away from you. We only get the Democracy we are willing to fight and sometimes die for. It is up to each of us to draw our line in the sand and say...NO MORE! Perhaps it is now time to start drawing.
