CITGO and Chavez
Is CITGO the distributer that Chavez is supplying? The reason I say this is because there is a MAJOR disparity to the other gasoline suppliers. I found a CITGO station near work which is charging $2.49 a gallon. Two other "mystery gas" stations down the road are also charging the same. The other major suppliers in the area, and also where I live, range from $2.59 up to $2.69 (price gouging).

If Hugo is behind this, all I can say is, "VIVA, Chavez!!!!"

I would love to meet someone from Venezuela...after all at least they got to elect their president.....and, then I could ask how they feel about Americans...I'm sure you might be surprised by that answer,...no?

11. corporate mike has a real hard on for Chavez, citing his anonymous
sources from Venezuela

wonder who his "friends" are there?

no doubt supporters of those who tried to overthrow Chavez

my brother lived there for seven years, and as a high level capitalist operative there, has told me in quite a bit of detail the lengths the opposition went to bleed power away from Chavez, by any means necessary, all of which he approved.

their favorite ploy was bribery, at all levels

my brothers company (listed in the Dow Jones) was very active in this area

so you can bet corporate mike's pals don't include any of the poor people to whom Chavez has begun to divert some of Venezuela's oil money

what a bad, bad man he is

and as far as HRW and other groups' censure of Chavez, see what they have to say about the US and other putative democracies. you won't find much difference

14. thanks for clarifying..
...those 'talking-points', are sure making the rounds these days, but oddly enough the primary source is either our government or Tweety-types. I guess with a name like "'corporate'mike"...I shouldn't bother...but our government's history in South America, is one of which I've only skimmed the surface....yet have already come to the conclusion, that our interventions are not a good thing...

12. You mean Chavez and his 77% approval rating?
Yup, they love him.

HRW and Amnesty cite trivial and misleading occurrences.

HRW is a tool for the neo-cons. Amnesty's analysis is mild. France has a longer profile on Amnesty than does Chavez.

8. Me, too. They were the only company to respond to a plea to
help low-income families and seniors with the increases in home heating oil.

4. Yes...
I believe that Citgo is actually owned by Venezuelan interests,
perhaps their national oil company...

5. Citgo or Costco for me!
And here in Southern California, you're more apt to get Citgo gas at the 7/11 stations around here.
