Scary prediction - "Beware the Iran of March- a must read-
This article makes one really stop and think- and should be read and discussed by MSM and others-
Please take the time to read it-

..History was created on Jan 1 when Russia abruptly cut off gas supplies to Europe for a day; a brutal reminder that the stakes in the current game can be raised dramatically at will. It caught the world by surprise, converted millions into news addicts and brought about the realization that we are living on borrowed time, in an era of strained energy resources.

Unless saner elements among the Bush administration prevail, the next neocon project might involve playing Alexander the Great vs. Persia. That ancient conquest took the Greeks right to the doors of India, and history is repeating itself, except that it may have run out of cycles by March, or culminate in a pact for a strategic future in New Delhi. .....

This article is long, but well worth wading through, talking about the BIG PICTURE- the potential of shutting down the oil flow- Chinas nuke threat- we are playing with more than 'fire'' here-

1. Nice link. Thanks
Good explanation of the oil bourse, too.

And this is classic:

"Some claim Saddam Hussein became unpardonable and beyond redemption when he insisted on euros for Iraqi oil sales. He got the currency wrong from October 2000 and a handsome profit till his Weapon for Messing up the Dollar - the more realistic WMD - landed him Operation Iraqi Freedom."

3. thanks for reading it- I confess I have been
VERY ignorant of the really deep concequences of what this will mean.

The euro dollar stuff, and the reality of how really 'gridlocked' the oil reserves of the ME really are- this sentence:

" Unfortunately, the message is still not sinking in that Iran is not Cuba. The Bay of Pigs is not the Straits of Hormuz. "
leads to some pretty unsettling yet.... "duh" moments-

How can we be so blind??- and manipulated?

We are in deep doo-doo on so many fronts.

6. Same here
It's difficult to get information that finally gives us the "duh" moments. I wish DU had a political history forum of some kind. The picture is so large, plus there are many here on DU who've been there-done that and could easily help educate newbies and young people.

2. Interesting article. And it's really not all that long.
3 pages for anyone who starts wondering, and the pages are fairly short with slightly large print.

Kim Il George thinks he's Alexander the Great but he may turn out to be Herbert Pyrrhus Hoover to the world.

4. well,
guess you got me there- I kept thinking I'd gotten to the finish, and when it said "continued" I think I was hoping it was done, because the truth, and potential of what is being said in this article, really disturbs me, and rings all sorts of "OH SHIT" bells in me-

I'm really not that 'lazy' or ignorant- but you are correct. The article is not that long, and it is well worth reading, even though I hate hearing what is being predicted.

thanks for reading and commenting-

5. Thanks. Sort-of.

But I'm hardly surprised.

When I consider the chaos these nuts have set in motion, and how obvious it was to result from each proposed action, it seems this is exactly what is intended.
