If it is o.k. with them, it doesn't make any difference what anyone else thinks.

1. Probably the same as the Wellstone family felt ...
Martin and Coretta's lives WERE political; why would their funerals be any different?

3. They probably would not have asked all those politicians to speak
if they didn't want it to get political.

One note: Paul and Sheila Wellstone's funeral was private. The event that caused all the hysteria was the public memorial to the public man.

5. I say for Coretta Scott King's funeral
what I said about the Wellstone memorial - if these freaking repunks don't like it they can go screw themselves - nobody has a right to judge how a family chooses to memorialize one of their loved ones.

7. It's useful for the RW to have us believe ...
... that politics is dirty. If politicians are dirty, then govt. is corrupt. Therefore, the answer is to dismantle govt. That is their objective, after all. Grover wants to drown it in a bathtub.

The Kings led political lives. For them, as for most Democrats and even a few R's, politics is public service, a personal sacrifice for the common good. I have no idea how the King family felt about the event, but I would be honored, personally, to be remembered as someone who worked tirelessly to make the world a better place for all people. In other words, I'd love for my funeral to have meaning as a means of furthering the causes I advanced during my life.
