Think Dept. of Homeland Sec. tracks our Internet listening habits? |
|
Edited on Tue Feb-07-06 09:21 PM by KzooDem
I just listened to some awesome Cheb Mami (big French-Algerian Rai artist) followed by Tarkan (Turkish pop artist)on Yahoo! Radio. Do you think I'm on some sort of list now after bopping to Arabic and Turkish music? It WAS followed by a snappy ABBA tune, however, so maybe they'll take that into account?
Of course I'm being only half facetious. Doesn't it blow when you actually wonder, even for a second, if someone is tracking what you listen to?
Maybe I should try listening to the Oak Ridge Boys? They are friends of the presi-dunce, afterall.

I'm an artist...a bramble to the hand and a thorn in the foot of tyranny.
If they don't like it, they can go straight to wherever bad little feds go.

6. Eventually, I think all browsing will be "fed into the hopper" |
|
and anything relevant will be stovepiped and flagged to the appropriate people.
I think something like that is in the works - Total Information Awareness. Chimperor doesn't EVER give up he toys, he just renames them and moves them.
Another increase in magnitude of computing power or two, and technically, the ability to quick search all data in this way will soon be within reach, if it isn't already.
Google "Project Genoa". I have seen DARPA's own page on it (long since removed) -- they had a neat slide of the flow of information TIA/Genoa would generate and flag for secondary human analyis.
