2. For the first time, tonight, I began making a "72-hour plan"
72 hour window to get out of the continental United States if it preemptively nukes another country. I'm going to be up late tonight working out passport applications for the whole crew. :-(

3. I've thought about the same thing ...
... but if we pre-emptively nuke anyone, you can be sure that we won't be letting anyone in OR OUT of the country. That means taking your chances with an illegal land or water crossing. If it comes to that, is this a world where I want to spend the rest of my life?

That's a tough question I desperately try to avoid confronting, because I don't like the answers one bit at all.

7. Have beem carrying my passport with me since 2001
Every day, in my purse. I have access to money and some followup resources.

These have been the worst years of the US. Ever.

5. I'm with ya but can you fill that thought in a bit?
So I can know if you think the danger is outside the US primariliy, etc

I think we're in a government that is ignoring our security while they loot our treasury with war profiteering and cronyism.

6. I'm referring to the fact that we're calling Iran dangerous because
Edited on Tue Feb-07-06 11:53 PM by linazelle
they want to do what we are already doing--possessing nukular weapons.

And we would rather erode what little goodwill we have left in the world to go after them (for greed,really--no other reason IMHO) than to mind our own fricking business.

Our leaders (like them or not) are willing to put our lives at stake for their own personal gain.

9. I've never been so scared
not of Bin laden or Al Queda or the 'terrorists' but of what MY OWN government is about to do. This could get very ugly.Remember Iran is NOT Iraq..They will fight back.

10. I am so thankful
that 50 years ago, I learned to speak Spanish. My accent isn't perfect, because some Mexicans have thought I was Cuban, and some people from Central America thought I was from Spain. It doesn't matter, I can get by well enough to go to a Spanish speaking country and survive.

I love the language, the culture, and everything else. I have in-laws in Mexico, so that's probably where I'd go. I believe that the next great progressive revolution will be to our south, with the Bolivarian movement. Chavez, Morales, Lula...better a progressive movement than the fascist tendencies of our own government. Bush and the neocons are ruining our country.
