laugh you ass off. seriously. this is the road to victory. |
|
next time you local banana republican comes out with the latest insane, outlandish, hateful, idiotic, rove-parrotting hogwash, do'nt get angry, and definitely don't bother with a logical, sound argument that would be completely wasted on an emotionally manipulated mind. instead:
laugh your ass off. seriously.
just lean in a bit an laugh your ass off. turn and walk away, and mutter something like, "what a f*cking idiot! such an obvious lie and he feel for it completely!"
HUMILIATE THE JERK!
we need to start connecting with people on a gut level. we need to shock these people out of their senses. they are prepared to expect logic and to dismiss it as liberal rantings. only be experiencing the emotional humiliation properly felt by people who pass off lies as truth will they begin to question their steady diet of hate and lies.

4. He who laughs last ... |
|
laughs best.
You tell that to Dubya as he holds total control over his dictatorship, as a puppet to the powers that be.
Every put-down we give him this total imbecile and failure who can hardly read a speech written for him only fuels the wrath he will spew upon us once his passage across the Rubicon has been acknowledged as fact and law.
Bush is not so stupid that he cares about your current opinion of him, only because he knows that, if you don't rise up and stop him, it really won't matter at all. Look at history and then decide.
Your jokes about the Emperor will be the joke on you if you take this all so lightly.

I just tell them that what they're saying, whatever it may be, was specifically devised to be repeated by stupid people.
I then tell them that I mean no offense; it's just that the Pukes know that there a lot of stupid people (like you) out there, and they know how to use you.

27. That's because you are actually listening. Most people do not listen. |
|
Listening is work, most people don't do it. Too worried about their own issues and playing their own tapes, they just have a kind of radar out, so the sound bytes can land safely for their superficial repetition.

Usually we on the Left trot out all kinds of facts and figures, to back up our opinions. That doesn't always work so well, because it seems like a lot of peoples' eyes glaze over. I don't know if laughter is always the right approach, but definitely we need to connect with more strikes to the gut.
Good examples of this are seen in the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections. A lot of us laughed at Bush because it was obvious he had a lousy grasp on the issues, and would just gloss over things. Then you would have Gore (and Kerry) making all of these in-depth statements using facts and figures, showing that they had a handle on the issues. Many people didn't respond to that kind of in-depth factual approach (in my opinion) and liked Bush better because Bush said things like "We're going to look into that, and if there's a problem we're going to take care of it".
I took that as a sure sign that Bush was clueless on the issues, but I think a lot of people liked that kind of (superficial, gut level) response because it meant "one less thing they'd have to worry about" (global warming or name any issue you like) in between work and picking the kids up after the soccer game. It was also reassuring to a lot of people... Bush told them it was going to be all right, while Kerry was "too much information".
Sorry if this went off topic, but IMO a heart/gut approach can work well for us with voters, maybe better than a brainy approach... even though a brainy approach is possibly what we on the Left may like to see in our candidates.

Laughter works better than what we have been doing...just look at the State of the Union address. No opposition has ever gotten that great of a soundbite out of a State of the Union.

debated as if it is reasonable. Over and over. With panels of "experts". With GRAVITAS.
And let's face it, most people are stupid sheep when confronted with that kind of persuasion.

they have to know that people think those opinions and views are ridiculous. if the media were functioning properly, the reporters would be doing that, but since they're broken (or worse), we have to do it ourselves.

Embarrassment hits people hard. Laugh at them, make fun of them, call them names and mock them. It will work far better than trying to argue.
