Bush squirms as policies denounced at King funeral

By Andrew Gumbel

Published: 08 February 2006

President George Bush led a crowd of 10,000 mourners at yesterday's funeral for Coretta Scott King, one of the icons of the civil rights movement, only to squirm in his seat as one speaker after another invoked Mrs King's spirit to lambast his administration on everything from the Iraq war to the response to last year's Hurricane Katrina.

2. For everything squirm, squrim...
there is a reason, squirm squirm,
And a crime for every season under DUH-bya.
A time for war a time for hate ...

I could go on, but I'll let someone else pick it up...

3. Actually, it was Pete Seeger's reworking of Ecclisiastes...
...that became "Turn, Turn, Turn."

4. Console yourselves with rebellious ideas of ridicule ...

But who has the power of your country in his hands? Who can get the last laugh, in the very worst way that is possible?

Who will squirm in the end, in the very worst ways that you can imagine our growing technology could offer?

This is very serious and it is impending. There is no laughing when you are subject to the boot of corporate technology stomping on your idea of a soul forever. None whatsoever.

It is all in place. It is precise. It knows what you want, need, buy, produce, hate, and despise. You are only calculation right now, but you think you are something else, as you should.

5. Wow. Hope you escape that Matrix soon.
This shit is nothing new. It's just new to you, in your lifetime. And like everything else since the beginning of time, it too will change.

6. No, it is not new.
I agree. Why did you assume that?

It is merely a cyclic redundancy that bears response.

Who's side are you on?

Did you know there is no side at all?
