after bro Jeb helped steal the election by disenfranchising black voters |
|
turning the voters right act into empty words, after N.O., after sending the children to kill and die, Bush attends the funeral.
after dragging the world into a war in which multiple tens of thousands are killed, after executing record numbers on death row in Texas, why should he be welcome to the memorial of Mrs King? Out of grace. and grace only.
The Kings gave their lives to nonviolence, were against war and militarism, opposed to the death penalty.
Bush is a proponent of violence as a solution to 'problems'. Martin and Coretta devoted their lives to nonviolence and peace. How many ways are there to say it? It was a grave insult for Bush to be there at all. A real insult. He deserves disdain for showing his face.

I guess I have so little regard for that felon that I didn't see it that way.
I saw it as part of the ongoing struggle.

4. I was turned off by Bush Jr's behavior at Mrs. King's funeral service |
|
I tuned in just in time to see Bush laughing in his chair and talking across the podium as though he was attending a parade.
GWB had no sense at all of how to behave at a funeral celebrating the life of an African American...and just WHO'S fault is that? No one has ever prevented him from taking part in the lives of African American citizens. He CHOSE not to be involved.
Certainly this type of funeral is different from the funeral services for the average citizen because of the number of dignitaries and celebrities, but nonetheless, it is not an occasion for hoot-calling to one's friends and to one's father in the pure excitement of the moment. I felt that Bush's behavior was totally out of order. He behaved like a child at his first circus
As for "Bill, 'Yes, children, I sold you down the river, but believe me, life will be better for ALL of us if you poor black people will just sacrifice a little more...Do it for Ol' Daddy Bill! '" Clinton...I don't know who told that sob that he had the right to talk to black people as though he was the kindly, paternal planation owner, but he had better get his head together quick. In just a very short time, he will be as hated and disdained by black democrats as he was by white Republicans....many of whom now love him to death as Bush's new son.
When I see what Bill Clinton feels he owes black America for their support and unflinching loyalty by his attitude and behavior with Bush Sr, I am totally sickened and he had better believe that black Americans are becoming aware and turning against him.
As for Hillary, she is my Senator now and I will never again vote for her even if she was running for the job of matron at the nearest laundromat. She is the most self-serving, incompetent piece of GOP-lite trash that I have ever had the misfortune of being misled by. She makes me gag....

5. one thing, among others, that disturbed me greatly about the CSK funeral |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-08-06 06:23 AM by flordehinojos
was the fact that the CHIMPEROR had to leave right after the Hillary speech, and that his plane ride guests had to leave with him. It set, in my mind, the white presidents talking at the funeral, and their wives, as real condescending plantaton owners, who had done CSK a favor by their mere presence there...if only for just a few minutes.

8. yes he got what he deserved, the truth for a change |
|
that was the point I was trying to get at. I don't think anyone owed it to him to mince their words just because his highness thought he would use the funeral of a beloved civil rights and peace advocate for a photo op.

On the other hand I thought it was a great time for them to get some little stabs in to him there too.
