8. How the heck did a loon like Santorum get voted in
Was he always this crazy, or did he just go into super-fundy mode when Bush came into office? Pennsylvania usually comes off as a pretty reasonable state, I can't see how they would vote for a guy like him.

Edited on Wed Feb-08-06 07:57 AM by vickiss
strange to you? He won 64 of 67 counties with double his opponents votes in all but 3 of those counties in the last race. It has always seemed very odd to me and I am horrible at probabilities.

And scumtorum is smug and seems not the least worried about the selection this year, even with Casey double digit polling points ahead of him.

Of course PA geniuses just decided to buy ES&S machines for much of the state.

I have serious doubts about the sanity here also, but the possible anomalies prevent me from completely giving up.

:hi:

In peace and hope,

20. I did notice that...
The Pubs had a falling out with Specter over his speaking out against the Bush Klan on some issues, the Patriot Act being one of those issues. The GOP even voiced their doubts about supporting him for reelection, but that all died down, a little while before the votes were cast. Then after Brother Arlen won, we see that, he's goose-stepped to every tune Bushco has come up with. So did the man sell what tiny bit of soul he had left, so that KKKarl and KKKrew would back him and maybe even rig it so he would win again, if he played ball with the old team? I'd almost bet you money, that Bush's political spies checked Specter out, as soon as he crossed the GOPers and spoke out publicly against the clearly regressive parts of the Patriot Act.

After the election was over and Arlen had retained his seat, he seems to have gotten with Bush/neocon's crooked, immoral, anti-American program, 100%. He didn't speak out forcefully, when the Patriot Act came up for renewal and now that Karl is turning the screws again on the domestic spying issue, Arlen seems to be losing steam fast, on standing up to Bush, in any meaningful way whatsoever, on any kind of a fair, and open investigation, into the illegal spying. Specter is back to his old mealy-mouthed, hard line, right wing, self and I think KKKarl's pressure on him, for the past couple of years, has turned Specter back into a total lockstepping Toady. I think Specter will do just like Chairman Warner did, on the 9/11 "investigation", and like Chairman Roberts did, on the DSM and the Iraqi "Intelligence Failure" "investigation" and obstruct justice and cover up for Bush's crimes, lies and mistakes. Specter will try every way in the world to obstruct any real investigation, watch and see. Unless there is further transparent investigation, into the domestic spying, that is taken out of the hands of the GOP, it too will be swept under the rug.(Another GOP Sham) Proof that the GOP congressmen and women, put their unconstitutional, unlawful, outlaw, party, before the protection and defense of their country, in the face of the enemy from within.(PNAC)

The GOP controls congress, and now we se beyond a shadow of doubt, how Karl controls the GOP congressmen! Now that the new SCOTUS judges are seated Bush is King. Checkmate! Baah-Daah-Bing!

I also notice that...The REAL "OBSTRUCTIONISTS" in congress, are the GOP Committee Chairmen!

23. I almost fell out of my chair when Specter said
he wasn't swearing in Gonzo! WTF!

It could not be more obvious that they are obstructing justice on this and every other issue that has come before each and every GOP chairman.

Is there any chance of turning this around, short of an actual all out revolution, do you think? I seriously believe we are at that point now and am deeply saddened and disturbed at what will have to occur to wake up the sheeple.

Am I just being an alarmist? Am I seeing something that isn't truly there? I have been an optimist most of my life. I don't believe I am that wrong in my assessment of the situation. I wish I was wrong.

Please tell me I'm wrong HF! Well, not if I'm right of course! Could we all wake up tomorrow and realize that we worried for nothing? Wishful thinking, huh?

I guess I am looking for some more hope. I'm not sure there is much left now, though I am hanging on for dear life to the little I have left.

Any words of advice? I have much respect for your opinions.

Thanks! :hi:

25. I advise you to wait until the fall election and see what's up.
Work as hard as you can, to try and help take back congress. I think you have more than valid reasons to worry and no you are not imagining things. The country is a total wreck. More and more people will be fleeing to our side, I believe. Anyone who knowingly aids in the commission of a high crime, or who helps the criminals cover up those crimes, will in the end pay the price, I believe. I think that if the next election comes off as crooked as the last one did, then you might see the Doo-Doo hit the fan. If there does come a time for the people to revolt, I believe that you will no doubt, have ample warning.

The guy who took Scooter Libby's job, Mr. Addington, is the trick lawyer who has been cooking up all the shyster legal stunts Bush and Seedy Gonzales are trying to get away with. The future of the country is in the hands of Congress and the Federal Court system. It's going to boil down to the question of, can we the people, live with the decisions made by the people who make the laws and the people whose job it is to see that EVERYONE, in this country, abides by those laws.

If congress and the federal courts uphold what Bush is doing, I'd say our democracy is then on mighty thin ice. I'm as bewildered as you are, about what might happen, but do I intend to protect my family and myself the best I can. I have had every intention of protecting my family ever since I was old enough to start a family thirty years ago, so that's nothing new! And I believe that if ?ush ever comes to shove, there are millions more in America, who feel the same way.

Like Al Gore said a couple of weeks ago, "it's up to the people," to determine when the Bullshit is intolerable, and I believe they soon will.

27. Thank you Hub, I will do everything
in my power to try to help have a fair election in Nov. I have warned Phil English on numerous occasions that he is being fired come Nov. The problem is his opponent is a guy named Porter that believes the drug war should be ended and English used it against him quite effectively in the last election. Porter is right, but around here there is much ignorance. I'll try like hell though!

I have a grandson, age 4, a daughter, age 27 and my Mom is 72. I fight for them.

I heard Specter today claiming that if what * did was illegal then we need to change the law!! :puke: The man doesn't have the sense god gave a carrot.

Thank you for the reassurance as to my sanity and for the good advice! I just wish Pa. hadn't bought into the ES&S voting machines this year. It could turn Pa into Ohio/Fla. if we even make it to 2008.

See you around DU! :hi:

In peace and continued hope,
vickiss

HOWEVER for those old style "real" Repubs that do this umm... reminder may help wake them up a bit... if they truly do care about this country and the freedoms that so many have fought and died for.

Sadly some here feel the same way.

I don't particularly like it myself...even though, I must say that Coretta's and Martin's lives was VERY political and that should not change in their deaths.
