5. the news is on now
I'll post comments as they come about.

The last call before the news break was someone complaining about the lack of attendance on the part of the hip hop community -- especially since they were so visible at Tookey Williams' funeral.

Not sure if I get the point there..........

8. One comment...
One man said he was a member of the early SNIC organization, and attended the funerals of the 3 men from NYC that were murdered, the 4 girls that died in the bombing, and other leaders of the movement that were murdered in the cause.

He said those funerals were ALWAYS political...because the struggle is bigger than the individual.

9. Nagin was an earlier guest...and one man is protesting him...
...saying that the Mayor is allowing "Emminent Domain" in what says is the safe Lower Ninth ward (where Fats Domino lived.)

This caller is saying he feels Nagin is racist and serves the causes of money more than the people.

The DJ says she'll take his number and call the caller later and take his questions to Nagin next week.

11. A young Black man says he keeps telling his friends...
...to "Get up off the Plantation" .

(Wasn't that Hillary's line that got her blind-sided by the Right-wing as racist?)

10. So far, the calls I've heard
are very supportive of the anti-Bush and political comments.

However, some are saying people made a mockery of the funeral.

This caller on now is saying those people need to "get off the plantation", as this was the perfect opportunity to speak truth to power.

He's also taking "the republican supporting Bishop Eddie Long" to task. I wholly agree with his comments. He says Long is a republican-leaning ambassador who was behind Cynthia McKinney being ousted from Congress a few years ago.

14. More callers...

The funeral was excellent...that's what we do down here...if you don't know now you do. He's upset that no hip hop artists were represented (he's a hip hop artists.)

We are the moral compass for America. Love what Jimmy Carter said...what Lawery said...but what are they going to do today, Lawery. Our people have to play chess....(then he was distraught, and Lorraine-White explained Lowery's work and took another caller.)

===

This caller is young and he is asking about hip-hop musicians and why they weren't there? This man said he we may have dropped the ball in educating hip-hoppers about the civil rights movement...they don't know the major movers that are still alive.

===

I'm full, and I well slept last night...first time in a long time. When people can't have their way, they get mad and frustrated, when they can't have their way...they're mad. (Contrasting the CSK and Renquist funerals) wouldn't it have been nice if people walked up to that (Renquist's) casket and said "You did a great thing for us...for me."

Gotta use my power...you can't hide anymore...she's gone to be with her husband...gotta take her torch...got to take it and RUN with it!

15. During the news break, they played a clip from Lawery from after the...
...service.

He said, "He (Bush) must have known that when he walked into King Country that he was going to hear the truth."
