This is the photograph of singer Britney Spears driving a car with her baby son sat on her lap.

Several pictures of the incident had circulated unofficially on the internet prompting a defence from the pop star.

Spears said she had her son Sean Preston on her lap in an effort to escape the paparazzi.

"I instinctively took measures to get my baby and me out of harm's way, but the paparazzi continued to stalk us," the chart-topping singer said.

So this rocket scientist figured that frantically driving off with her baby wedged between her and the steering wheel was the best way to protect the child from harm.

No, the stupidity is twofold; baby on lap, and expecting people to buy the story about violent paparazzi. She could have just said she was parked and briefly and slowly moved the car to get to where she could safely get out to secure the baby in the baby seat without being assaulted by the press - it would certainly have been a more gracious lie.

6. We have to waste our tax dollars on them here

a couple of summers ago, or last summer Dallas County bought billboard ads telling people to put their purses or laptops beside the baby in the backseat so they would remember to get the baby out of the car when they got out. They bought the ads after a few of them died being locked up in cars in the heat.
