14. I was always taught
that you unbutton the jacket when you sit. Plenty of things to fault him for other than his dressing style, IMHO.

17. Oh please, he is the President of the United States.....
and he should be sitting up straight with his jacket buttoned while at the funeral. I was not talking about his dressing style. Believe me I fault him for plenty of things not related to etiquette.

6. Comportment
Hi,
Just wanted to mention that Bush has no manners. His slouching and posturing as if he was there to be entertained does not bide well at a funeral. If he wants to have presidential respect he needs to act presidential. At the least he needs to show respect in a house of God of whom is higher on the "list" than he is.

10. We Episcopalians have referred to ourselves
as God's Frozen People for years. And let me tell you, it's true.

15. a fellow piskie
I'll see you at coffee hour. As long as I'm not too drunk on Sunday morning to go to church. Which, in collegeland, isn't often.

Seriously though, even with the whole "frozen chosen" moniker, being Episcopalian is the only thing that's kept me in a church. Christians who actually celebrate diversity, doubts, questioning, gays are welcome, and our rector is as much a flaming liberal as I am. Keeps me goin.

16. My most pitiful ECUSA story
involves a guy in the back of the church suffering a heart attack and the EMS coming in and doing CPR on him in the vestibule. Audibly. one..two..three...CLEAR. Did any of us even turn around? No. Bad form. Nosey. Did we stop the service and pray? Nope. The show must go on!

I'm happy to report the poor man lived.

And I'm also happy we all kicked ourselves in our collective heads for our behavior. That British stiff upper lip is hard to loosen.

11. Speaking of class, did you see Bush 41 take a swig
from a water bottle after Clinton's "frozen chosen" remark? Poppy resembled Willie Lump Lump, Red Skelton's famous drunk. His move wasn't, shall we say, exactly something you'd routinely see at a High Episcopalian mass.

If the media companies weren't still profiting from the sulking, squirming monkey sitting on the podium, you see Poppy's disrespectful gesture on an endless loop, while a newsreader, clutching pearls, would remind viewers that the man who sired that twitching simian got his start in politics by calling his opponent in the race for the Texas Senate, Ralph Yarborough, a commie--because Yarborough supported passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
