Actually, we connect to DU over the Internets just like all of you. Our server is about a hundred miles away from our office.

18. It's been acting a little weird this morning

Sometimes normal and then sometimes it slows WAYYYYY down, but I was also have trouble with ebay so I think it's the *internets* and not just DU!

it's just a blank screen. The blue bar across the top says Democratic Underground, but the page is blank until I hit the reload icon..

22. Here's the response from the Systems Administrator at our ISP

To be honest, I'm not sure what is going on exactly. We monitor several remote sites and starting at 9AM this morning we started seeing a lot of latency and packet loss to some of these sites. After looking closer at the problem, it would appear that the problem is far outside our network.

It's possible that there is a major fiber cut out on the west coast that is putting a lot of extra load on the rest of the circuits across the nation. At least that what it appears to be right now, I have no official word yet from news reports and newsgroups out on the internet. I'm keeping a close eye on the situation and I hope to find more information soon.

I'll let you know when I hear anything.
