Holy Jeebus. Are you listening to the debate on the Halliburton
Protection Act (Asbestos bill)???

48% of the "trust fund" goes to financial institutions to administer the program.

Yet ANOTHER giveaway to the poor corporations that OWN your ass.

2. Hey, it's the best legislation money can buy.
Here we are talking about Abramoff, and then this turns up. What a corrupt bunch of whores our Republican leaders are.

4. USG is the Big Beneficiary of the asbestos trust fund.
They save bazillions if the bill passes.

No wonder the companies and amounts they contribute to the fund is secret...

It's a big, wet kiss to USG.

6. This is a disasterous Bill
It's the first step to end our right to a court hearing should we find ourselves harmed by corporate malfeasance.

Do you suppose they know thousands of people were exposed to the deadly asbestos in the World Trade Centers after the dust blanketed the city on 9/11? There's no way this trustfund could handle the thousands of claims that are bound to come in the years ahead. And let's not forget this same deadly asbestos is in an estimated 15 - 20 million homes across the country.

7. This is a huge corporate giveaway...far more money than the
medicare drug bill. You know how you can tell? Advocacy groups are running ads supporting the bill. And what really burns me up about us liberals is that if its not a sexy issue, we don't give it any effort. So now the astroturfing on the right will get their phone banks going, we won't make a call, the Dems will have nothing to lean on in terms of support and then we'll call them spineless, and so it goes. Same song different day.
