The people there obviously found the remarks appropriate because they gave them overwhelming applause. There is no reason on earth the speakers should mince their words because his 'highness' decided to attend the funeral for a photo op. If he didn't like the truth he should have stayed home.
And if the big mouthed pundits don't like it, tough shit.

I agree, unless you have stated in your will what your desires are per your final service it is only the familes perogative as to what constitutes an appropriate memorial (with consultation from a church body) if service is done in a religious ediface.

I was however, offended and dismayed that shrub was allowed to speak yet alone attend. If I was the family, I would have invited him and then when he got to the door, I would have said: "oops, changed my mind, you're too big of a racist pig and opportunist to be allowed to denigrate my mother's final service! se ya!" What a photo and news story that would have been!

that members of the King family have traditionally offered to anyone and everyone, that he was allowed to speak. Grace is not earned but given. It is the way the Kings have always carried themselves.

It was a grave insult for Bush to be there at all. A real insult. He deserves disdain for showing his face.

9. I don't need a whole lot of sadness, right now,

so I watched only bits of yesterday's CSK send off. After hearing all the projectile vomiting from the so-called pundits, I decided to watch it on c-spin replay in the small hours of the night, uninterrupted. It was beautiful!
I was so inspired. The various speeches were wonderful and right on target. I did feel some uncomfortable embarrassment for the bushes, elder and junior, especially GHWB's astonishment at what goes on outside the stately, reserved atmosphere of the services he's used to.

Having grown up around people who accept death as, perhaps, the second most important event in their existence, and who are as apt to get drunk and celebrate the beginning of the biggest trip, ever, I felt everything was perfectly in line, especially the prolonged applause on the Clinton speech.

That's the difference between us and them, I suppose. (sigh)
