IMUS be listening to a racist!
Edited on Wed Feb-08-06 01:25 PM by tgnyc
So, apparently Imus had a problem with the way folks carried on at the funeral yesterday. Like black folks, or anyone with an ounce of interest in the welfare of the black community, could give a shit what he thinks.

You might find it interesting to know that over the years, Imus and characters on his radio show have:

*compared the appearance of black NBA players to apes
*called award-winning black New York Times journalist Gwen Ifill "the cleaning lady"
*referred to award-winning black New York Times journalist Bob Herbert as a "quota hire"
*referred to residents of Harlem as "molignans" (the Italian equivalent of "coons")
*referred to the black wife of former Secretary of Defense William Cohen as a "big-haired ho"
*called tennis players Venus and Serena Williams "animals"

And in a July 19, 1998 interview on "60 Minutes," Imus admitted to hiring a producer specifically "to do nigger jokes" for the show.

3. This morning, he made fun of Stevie Wonder's hymn singing...
... Twice. He played the video twice.

Imus is disgusting.

4. Not surprised.
The Ipig is full of stuff like this. They hate everyone, including women. Don't get me started on that. I remember him calling the Italian journalist who was shot in Iraq "a linguine-sucking liar". I used to watch the show for the interviews. Don't do that any more. I won't feed a racist chauvinist pig.

5. Imus is no better than Rush Limpballs and the rest of it's ilk
he will rally for a noble cause periodically to cover for his misdeeds, he has a skinhead on his show that is missing the swastika across his head.

7. I don't know why people listen to him. He's a smarmy "insider" and he
enjoys lauding it all over everyone. Does he have access to files on the Media or Congresspersons he has as guests on his show? They all seem to fall all over him...including some of our favorites like Frank Rich and Maureen Dowd.

Like Matthews and Russert and the rest, Imus's cynicism about Government falls into the category of making everything so corrupt and laughable that his listeners will begin to accept the "They all do it...they shouldn't be held accountable because both we and they are all about corruption, cronyism and power." When you drum that into peoples heads long enough they begin to believe it. After all Imus has his own TeeVee and Radio show so he must be doing something right in "playing the game." This attitude is unhealthy for a Democracy. Making a Joke or Game out of Government only undermines any serious efforts to be involved in finding solutions to corruption, cronyism and power play. Imus and the rests brand of cynicism only breeds hopelessness. :grr:

8. It was entertaining yesterday to hear the endless parade of white pundits
who were insulted by the political theme of some speakers at the funeral.
It completely ruined the whole memory and legacy of Ms. King for them.

I know damn well they were scrambling all day for an African American voice to join them in their outrage against Carter and Clinton, but apparently came up empty handed. It was laughable hearing people like Tucker Carlson reading the lines that were basically written for a black republican.

I bet they're still looking, and it'll be interesting to see who they come up with later today.

11. IMUS be ... racist!
I've always thought so. He's also a sexist and a misogynist. It's all part of his charm!
