Wasn't President Reagan's funeral a week-long celebration of conservatism?
Edited on Wed Feb-08-06 02:19 PM by Armstead
I didn't hear the Media Jackals or the Right Wing Hall Monitors complaining that the week-long celebration of the life and accomplishments of President Reagan was "inappropriately political."

I'd expect the right wing to complain about Coretta King's funeral.

But it is disgusting that the so-called "journalists" in the mainstream media even raised the question of "appropriatness" of that as an issue, when they were among the Head Cheerleaders at Reagan's funeral.

2. The liberal media went ballistic. They hammered on the GOP opportunism.
Yeah right!

It was more than a week. And it wasn't a celebration of the life and accomplishments. It was a disgusting display of elevating a human being to semi-divine status. The myth-making was truly nauseating.

6. I was talking with a friend last night about the fact the Repugs have
no female leaders/icons. In other words, part of the problem with Mrs. King's highly visible funeral and celebration (also Rosa Park's)is the fact that activist/movement women have so many sheros currently and historically involved in social change that we can reference; and the conservative movement has zero.

Without even thinking about what drives them, the talking heads and media (esp. Tweety) get ugly. They are misogynous dicks to begin with and then suffer the embarrassment of being part of an exclusive white male culture. Somewhere inside they know their mommies would not approve. So, attack - attack - attack.

Imagine a funeral for, let's say, Phyllis Schafley - what icons can they bring up. None. Nothing to tug at your heart, nothing to be proud of.

A life structured by hate becomes more evident at death.
