Rove Wins Again: WHY are we debating THEIR talking points re: Funeral?
Edited on Wed Feb-08-06 02:54 PM by npincus
Why the HELL are we debating Hannity's/Rove's talking points about whether or not "politics" was appropriate to add to the King eulogies? We are WE letting THEM make us defend our behavior instead of making THEM address the substance of the eulogist's comments?

Why aren't WE asking THEM to explain the "misdirection" (Rev. Lowry's remark) that resulted in a war that is draining our treasury and killing our citizens? Why aren't WE asking THEM to define what Bush's "VICTORY" actually is, this "victory" that we must achieve before exiting Iraq? Wasn't that what Mrs. King likely wondered?

Why aren't WE asking THEM to explain how the "wiretapping of Mr. and Mrs. King" (Carter's remark) is DIFFERENT than the unauthorized spying Bush is doing to American citizens? Why are we debating the RW Manners Police?

THEY are doing it to US AGAIN. We are debating on THEIR TERMS. They have "framed" this already. Now we are debating BULLSHIT instead of the merits of the eulogist's comments, spoken on BEHALF of Mrs. King, because that is what she believed in.

WHY, WHY, WHY are we letting them F*CK us AGAIN? I've been listening to AAR all morning, and all I hear is discussion about the "controversy".

Hear's a subject for discussion: Why don't WE ask B*SH to explain WHY he blabbered about human-animal hybrids and didn't utter the word "KATRINA" in his hour-long summary of The State of The Union? Isn't the drowning of a Major American city and the devastation of the entire Gulf region, the dislocation and financial ruin of millions, and the deaths of over 1,600 Americans worth mentioning? EXPLAIN THAT. And you fucking bastards in the media, EXPLAIN why you didn't ask the question. As often as you will replay the remarks of Rev. Lowry and former Pres. Carter.

1. Why can't the sun come up in the west?
Cause it doesn't.

All the stuff you want them to focus on is old news. The Coretta funeral is new news. The best we can hope for is the opportunity to talk about how the funeral reflected the substance of Ms. King's own opinions.

2. I'd like to know more about how * decided to attend at LAST MINUTE
Talk about "playing politics" ... You CANNOT tell me he WANTED to go to that event -- He only went to score POLITICAL points. This reeks of his "last minute" decision to lay a wreath at MLK's grave one MLK Day that caused a huge security mess and didn't ingratiate him with anyone in Atlanta. He HAD to know he wasn't going to be welcomed with open arms but HE WENT ANYWAY (he and KKKarl probably had this all planned out).

21. Perhaps her White Suit was dirty...

The one she wore to Reagan's funeral. And she outgrew her Red Dress.

23. She wore a white suit to Reagan's funeral?
She must still have been bitter about how that Hinckley thing worked out.

26. I don't think so....
Wonder if any of her children or grandchildren will wear a red dress to HER funeral? Probably not, but I"m sure the thought might cross their minds.

8. How many times....
have you gotten an apple from a pear tree? How many times will you continue to expect to get an apple from a pear tree? Insanity: doing the same thing every time, but expecting different results. We all have choices in what we focus on.

20. Right! Thanks for posting that!
The wingnuts always talk about Reagan's inauguration as if it saved American civilization. As if Carter had been in Moscow signing our capitulation when St. Ron swung in like Robin Hood (Errol Flynn version), snatched the pen from him, humiliatingly poked Jimmy and Leonid in the butts with his sword, and rode off into the sunset as the natives cheered.

That's not political? Well, maybe not -- maybe psychotic is a better word, but that's the movie that plays in their heads.

11. Fuck them....
the speeches at the funeral reflected what she would have said at any other activists funeral herself. So fuck them, they can mind their own business...and who are they to complain? Were they friends or relatives of hers? They were not invited and they have NO say in the matter period.

17. Rove won nothing

Bush looked small and uncomfortable. Most people can't stand this man.

The MAJORITY of the country.

The media will spin WHATEVER we do to slant it in favor of the right.

They are corporate owned whores.

People know what this adminstration is about.

Don't let the propagandists get you down. You are forgetting their job is not to present honest debate and objective news coverage. They are the authors of newspeak.

Don't take them seriously.

19. Exactly. This is just a distraction from the truth that
this "president" is near to being a prisoner in the White House because the majority of Americans can't stand him.

It is sad the the American president is so disliked in his own country.
