It's just like Outlaw Josey Wales said... |
|
When you are in a fight, sometimes "You just have to get mad-dog mean."
Maybe nobody wins, if we get mad-dog mean and stand toe to toe with the repukes clubbing each other over the head with tire irons.
But one thing is for DAMNED sure. If we don't, the pukes will just continue to steamroll us. At least we would be saving the country from more disastrous and unjust policies. At least we weould be saving thousands of families throughout the country and the world from morning the senseless loss of youths cut down in the prime of their lives. At least we could begin clearing the air from the foul stench of unabashed corruption.
There is no doubt that we are in the fight of our lives for the soul and salvation of our beloved country.
Bi-partisanship hasn't worked with these humans in name only, and will never work. Our democratic congressmen and senators need to take their aprons off and start fighting as if our lives depend on them, because guess what? Our lives DO depend on them.
Write them, if you haven't. Write them again if you have. Tell them it's time to put their brass knuckles on and start swingin. Call them and keep calling. It is OUR JOBS to make them aware just how serious WE are. And one of the few ways we have is to simply call or write.
Our party couldn't be beaten if we had a congress full of Feingolds.
GET MAD DOG MEAN!

every conflict has people on both sides demanding maximum ruthlessness, and I think those people are wrong. They RW called Ariel Sharon of all people a traitor to Israel, for chrissakes. They can't be satisfied.
Every conflict also has people on both sides that stand up to the extremist hawks, and they get called "appeasers" and "soft on terror" or "soft on communism" or "soft on republicans" or "soft on liberals", etc.* But they're the ones that create progress.
The hawks are more likely, imo, to quote movies to justify their position.

6. Fortunately, still, the great thing about this country is that you |
|
can still have your opinion. I've been around a long time, and there IS truth to the addage that sometimes "You have to fight fire with fire."
Your way isn't working. I don't mind getting into the gutter to fight these gutter trash. That's where the garbage is. You can't clean it up from your lofty perch.

8. Chamberlain was an Appeaser, and we know the results of that. |
|
Maximum ruthlessness isn't the answer, but the ability to be as ruthless as your enemies, and let's not make any mistakes, the Republicans are the enemy, will show those who sit on the fence that when it's necessary you're not afraid to fight.
And in this current time, showing that you're not afraid to fight may be the appropriate action to take.

|
the enemy must be destroyed, and anyone advocating anything less than the most extreme measures is naive, a dupe of the enemy.
Fortunately, sane folks have a more nuanced view of the enemy and of the conflict, they reject the extremists.

it happens on both sides. There are freepers that call Bush a RINO. And like I said before, the RW extremists called Ariel Fucking Sharon a traitor to Israel.
Some hawks are never satisfied. You can tell by the way they talk. They quote westerns for example.

YEAH..REPUBLICANS! What don't you get about this thread? If you can't cope with the sight of blood, you'd better stay on the sidelines, cause there's a fight coming, and it's gonna be fucking nasty.

22. some republicans look at it that way |
|
like when Bush nominated Miers, Bill Bennett was saying things like, "FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT." and "if you're not on offense you're on defense," etc.
In other words, some republicans are like that, they demand constant maximum conflict at all times.
That's not the way to go.

"humans in name only". I really have a difficult time thinking of anyone in my 52 years who I have seen so little compassion in. It is impossible to reason with people who do not give a good G-damn about anyone else. The only thing they understand is power but unfortunately they understand it very well.

7. I have a thought for a protest |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-08-06 04:10 PM by rurallib
Since our leaders don't seem to want to do a goddamned thing. It is simple and legal:
Drive 55. It saves gas thus lowering our need for Arab oil and saves some money. And after a few months of having traffic backed up even the right wing will be screaming. All it will cost is a little time and it may help get the troops home early. Anybody with me? I've been doing it for a year and I love the looks I get. You could save as much as 30% on your gas bill. If your really mad, slow down and let others get mad too. And a bumper sticker that says 'Drive 55 to Drive Bush Out' would be a nice touch.

15. others will just get mad at you |
|
First, I do not drive most of the time anyway since I do not own a car. Second, I do not like the hazard caused to myself, and perhaps others, by driving 55. Seriously, even when the speed limit is 55, I cannot drive 60 because the traffic is just horrific. It is much more manageable at 65. On one 150 mile trip, I lost at car football 225 to 10 or something like that, and I was driving the speed limit at 65.

26. Oh, but if 20,000 duers plus other sympathizers |
|
start a protest and carry it off people will take notice. Or we could just sit back and complain. I personally think it is time for some non-violent totally legal protest. See, one reason that the bushies keep rubbing our faces in it is that there has been absolutely no consequence to anything they have done. Time for citizens to stand up. If not this, do you or anyone else have an idea? Or do we just whimper?

And my head is still spinning, wondering how we went from a great democratic governor (Mel Carnahan) to ...................sorry, cannot bring myself to say it. If I could I would move.
But what I can do, and what I have done is donate money (not much) and time. I have been calling my senators and congressman, but not nationwide. I will begin doing so. Money well spent.
I grew up in a peaceful state of mind, but have been virtually pissed since Vietnam. I hate the government, and I am not too happy with myself for how I have allowed it to affect me. No matter. I won't feel satisfied until I can chew on cold, dead republican carcass. (figuratively speaking, of course.)

Josey Wales, speaking contra the burial of enemy dead (Collected Sayings of Master Clint)
As to your main idea: what do we have to lose? Every other type of plan has failed thus far, so even if it doesn't suit some people's delicate natures, I suggest the only thing left to is fight the Fascists the only way it's worked before. Bear in mind they didn't hesitate to cheat to obtain power, they aren't going to leave power, you have to expect, without at least as much electoral chicanery on their way out, and maybe a few strategic acts of violence against our leadership too. We must be ready for anything to happen.

24. Feingold isn't like that |
|
he's a peacemaker who fights only necessary conflicts, doesn't fight for the sake of fighting, who instead seeks out common ground as his overall approach.
You're right, we need more Russ Feingolds, and less political warmakers.
