What is finally going to "tip the scale" out of Bush's favor permanently?
Or will that ever happen?

I've wondering about this as I see this "funeral scandal" manufactured by the right unfold today. It's total bullshit, what they're saying...but are Americans buying it?

When do you think the majority of Americans will say "enough"? What will instigate such and incident? What will they (we) do to change things?

3. I think when another Kent state event occurs....
I hate to say it but Kent state was a pivotal moment in US history. I hope it doesn't but in my gut it is going to be some violent action from * government against Americans participating in their right to participate in protest.

8. I agree, the inevitable economic collapse...
will knock the complacent middle class off their asses and into Revolutionary mode, a la France.

6. It's already happened but
as long as the media reflects corporate values and not American values, Bush will be a "popular" President.
In reality, away from the happy talk of media "personalities" Bush's approval figures are unremittingly dismal.

11. We MUST start creating OUR own news media.
If dissidents did it in the Eastern Bloc under Soviet Communism, goddamn it, we should be able to do here.

10. When people find out Bush needs to strangle a puppy before bed...
every night just to get to sleep should do it.

Rumor? Maybe, but "some say" he does it. I've just heard a buzzing around capitol hill is all.

15. Yes, and yet, the rightwing sludge machine continues to spew
and the Bush junta continues implementing its fascist agenda.

In other words, they don't seem to be all that concerned about public opinion...

The Repubs are going down in this years elections. All of the stunts by Rove won't make a difference.

19. In a subtle way - it was Katrina
and I have colleagues who are gun tottin', Republican, religious conservatives. And they are seriously questioning DHS and FEMA, and the fact that way too many people in Louisiana and Mississippi don't even have trailers yet.

I think the juxtaposition in time of (1) Katrina and (2) Schwartzenegger's attacks on cops, fire fighters, rescue medics, and nurses has hurt the GOP.

These are people who don't blog or call talk shows.

24. The Repubs biggest nightmare is the "Band of Brothers".
Edited on Wed Feb-08-06 05:32 PM by DURHAM D
If you didn't see the dailykos post go take a look.

56 veterans running for the U.S. Congress. If the right attempts to swiftboat them they will "charge the hill" in mass.

When this bubbles up into the traditional media the sheer numbers will get the attention of even the most casual observer.
