"Do I look like I just fell off the back of a vegetable truck, Wolf?"
That was the reply by Jack Cafferty during a discussion about Boener renting an apartment from a lobbyist.

Cafferty was foisting shame upon the party for electing such a crook to the leadership position, when Wolf felt it necessary to point out that: "It's a basement apartment, not very desirable Jack....and he is paying fair market value".

After Jack's quote Wolf said: "No, you look like Jack Cafferty"

Later when Jack read the e-mail comments to the Boener question he jokingly said that some people did think he looked like he fell off a vegetable truck.

He then proceeded to read a bunch of comments negative to Boener, after which Wolf asked if any of the letters were in support of the arrangement since it was a basement apartment and not extravagant".

"No Wolf, they were all against it." "About 700 of them".

I bet that really whizzes Wolf off, but he didn't have to be so obvious about it"

1. WTF Does It Being A Basement Apt. Have to do W/ Anything???
Edited on Wed Feb-08-06 05:31 PM by Beetwasher
They really latch onto the most abosolutely ludicrous defenses.

BTW, I've seen some really nice basement apt's. The implication by saying "it's a basement apt." is that they are trying to make it seem like it's a store room w/ bare walls and rusty pipes or something so it's no big deal.

6. Basement apartment, my ass
On Capitol Hill, they're really English garden apartments, and they're all the rage these days.

Basement apartment, my ass.

7. Yeah, I Know
The spin is insidious, ludicrous and quite frankly sickening.

2. I like Jack's comments! He doesn't pull any punches!
I thought it was great that Jack said there were only about 6 or 7 emails in favor of Boehner, and the other 700 were all AGAINST!

People don't seem to hold back when they email Jack, and he does read the ones who oppose his points. It's good to hear I'm in the majority, thinking that the Pubs have to be idiots to elect Boehner to the ML spot! I can't wait for the day HE has to also resign from his position because of indictments!

3. I hated Jack on American Morning but I really like him on Wolf's show!
He tells it like it is. Too bad I'm at work and never get to actually see these little gems. Oh well. That's why I depend on DU to keep me abreast of the latest curmudgeonly Cafferty comments!

4. "Basement apartment" on Capital Hill
They're quite lovely, very desirable, and pricey. Most of them open into beautiful gardens.

Paying $1600 a month for a two-bedroom apartment on the Hill is not an unreasonable price. I think it's a little low, but it might be really small. Most of them are.

The deal still stinks, since even the appearance of impropriety should be avoided.

These people are simply immoral, fair market value or not. They spit at us every day, these grandly entitled ones.

8. These are called English Basement apartments.
And Wolf knows exactly how lovely and desirable they are.
They have full ceiling height, lots of light, private entrances,
and nice back gardens.
