Have you seen 'Shawshank Redemption'?
If you have then you will know what I mean when I post that you are my classical music.

The story takes place in jail and Andy, the lead character, finds freedom in his classical music. Nothing can touch him or cage him in because as long as he has his music his soul (and mind) are free.

This is how I feel about all of you. * can try to do whatever he wants to our country but you folks give me this freedom that I can not even begin to express. You free me from my mind being in the dark. You give me a sense of freedom and hope even as I see rights being cut off from our citizens. YOU have given me a free country which I can visit at any time and I do not feel like a prisoner.

I am truly thankful to you.

2. Yeah. Fabulous movie.
I wish I could show it to some kids, but I'm afraid it would be too violent for them. I love that scene. I love how he never gave up. I love the great friendship that endured.

I love DU also.

10. I list it as my favorite movie OF ALL TIME!!!
That last scene on the beach in Zihuatanejo destroys me every time. And I'm a guy!!

I understand your sentiments about DU. For our country, we either get busy living, or get busy dying. I'm tempted to watch that movie again.

Thanks for reminding me, demgurl.

18. You are very welcome.
I think it is such a wonderful movie and so cleverly done. I believe it is law that TNT must show it every month so you will have a chance to see it again.

I always tear up when the old guy (the librarian) gets out of jail and he finds he just can't make it. That is so sad.

We are all in this together - for better or for worse. Thankfully you all make it better.

13. Wow, that is a very intense and overwhelmingly sublime feeling.
To feel that about anything is a blessing, to feel it about people is beautiful. It's nice to read something like this amidst all of the pessimism about the future/present.

But then, I'd pay to watch Morgan Freeman mow his lawn.

What was most amazing about that scene was the effect the music had on the other cons listening.

Thanks for your kind words. See my sig line.

you gotta read the story. its by Big Stevie King. THE GREATEST american writer EVER. only once have i cried reading a story. and it was king's "rita hayworth and the shawshank redemption." stephen king is an american asset like no other. i learnt all about america, especially its delightfully cool small town cultures, from the man.

27. Really Great Movie
This movie has a special place in my heart not only for the content but also because it was filmed entirely in and around my home town Mansfield Ohio...the soundstage was formerly the high crane bay area of Westinghouse electric laundry division where I spent 22 years of my life..the outdoor scenes were taken at the old Ohio State Reformatory. This movie gave my area a badly needed economic Shot in the arm.

for sharing it via the loudspeaker.

I identify with that because when I first got here 3 years ago I expected the "brown shirts" at the door, any minute. Now, I don't care, they can come and get me. The music/sense of freedom is worth the risk.

Thanks for the analogy and I agree!

I'm from Brunswick m'self.

I knew a fellow who worked on the set as security and was also a prison guard at one point in time.

He claimed Tim Robbins was a pretty nice guy but didn't really 'associate with the help', but Morgan Freeman took the cake and was a real favorite with the locals with his humble down-to-earth friendliness...even went out to eat with them a few times.

He also worked on "Tango and Cash" there. He claimed both Russel and Stalone were real pricks. Most feedback from the public tells me that much is true.
