"Iraq War Draws Veterans Into Politics"
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - After 20 years in the Air Force and Bronze Star service during the 1991 Gulf War, Democrat Jay Fawcett decided to come home and run for Congress, largely out of disgust with the way American troops were being used in Iraq.

"I think it's just gotten to the point where a significant number of us who've served are looking at this administration particularly - and Congress doesn't get off the hook - and saying, 'What're you doing? What's the plan?'" he said.

Fawcett is part of a large and possibly unprecedented number of former soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines running for Congress this year.

About 40 of the candidates are Republicans, while at least 55 are Democrats. By one count, at least 11 veterans of the Iraq war or Afghanistan are hoping to get elected to the House or Senate, all but one of them Democrats.

2. I really hope they aren't DINO's and continue to serve the USA
...in their new capacity.

Good that Kerry weathered the sick assault from the SHITBOAT veterans for LIES. Now their sick, twisted tactics are known despite the media traitors.

Good luck and thank you to the new Democratic congressmen-pending.

3. Oh there will still be Swiftboating. Does anyone doubt it? The woman
helicopter pilot who lost her legs, they'll probably say it was because she was incompetent or whatever. Can't you just see it?

Why would you doubt that they would do this?

Before 2004 would you not have thought the Swiftboating of Kerry vs. Shrub's pathetic Vietnam service would have been unthinkable? But it wasn't, was it? And it worked like a dream.

5. Murtha showed the answer to this. Get IN THEIR DAMN FACE. Kerry
tried to be above the fray, I actually thought, in principle, that this was okay, and might have been if we had a real media. But it was a bad choice and killed him.

Murtha, at the first sign of this, called out Cheney. "Oh, I like that, guys with 5 deferments questioning my service" etc. And they BACKED THE SHIT OFF HIM.

6. Kerry was right, but the American people are wrong -propagandized
It would be nice if we could be civilized again, but with the media today -well, there needs to be much change. Laws with force about media fairness & ownership, campaign and voting reform. Then we have a chance at returning to the civilized world.

Time to elbow the bullies in the choppers 'til they're spittin' Chicklets.
