As is the heightened radicalism across the Muslim world.

Not to state the obvious, but the current mideast, in particular the dysfunctional Arab regimes, were the creation of great power politics from the end of WWI to the end of colonialism, and 60 years of oil exploitation following that.

Would Ahmedinezad have been elected if the US had not entered Iraq ?

Would Hamas have won by a landslide if the Bush administration had not implemented the foreign policy package of the Likud PAC the Project for a New American Century ?

Would Iran be rattling its tinny nuclear sabre ?

Would Iraq have become the gathering place for violent Muslim extremists from across the Islamic world if the US had not entered Iraq ?

We see the tactics of the usual suspects as we discover that the persons responsible for the publication of the 12 evil cartoons in Jyllands Posten had direct links to transnational neocon/neoliberals.

On the one hand, they expose the inanity of Muslim fundamentalism for the world to see.

On the other, would Muslim fundamentalism or its inanity exist to their current extents but for a century of tacky western machinations designed to feed the exploitative neoliberal socioeconomic order ?

inflaming issues that used to be handled and should be handled by Quiet Diplomacy.

But, it's what the Neo-Cons and the Fundie Christians wanted and they are getting it all served wrapped up in shiny silver ribbons...and they are happy to have "THEIR MAN" acting like Hitler or Stalin making the world more "Dangerous for Everyone."

2. IMO, Gandi had the better solution. So did MLK.
If Bush is seen to be going around the world killing innocent people, pretty soon Americans neuter Bush. But if those same people throw around a lot of rhetoric and kill Americans, they play right into Bush's hands. The only way to destroy a bully is to reveal him for what he is.

Bush + Muslim radicals is a REALLY bad combination. And while everyone on DU seems to think that WE should be tolerant of Muslim sensibilities, why doesn't anyone ever ask THEM to be tolerant of our values? To be honest, I get tired of the one sided argument.
