Is there ANYTHING that Bush has done these past 5 years that was good |
|
and I mean good for humanity, for everyone not just the wealthy who suck up to him.
Can we come up with one bill, one idea, one thing that he did that even we, as democrats, could be proud?
Start thinking!

3. I can't tell you how many times Repubs have asked me this question |
|
One just today.
My answer: NOTHING. Sorry, I hated Nixon but I can write a term paper detailing good things he did that really did help the country. But this president has not done one thing that I see as beneficial, other than giving material to comedians.

when I get the chance. It's fun watching them squirm. I ask how they like the tax breaks for the oil companie, or the Medicare bill. ANYTHING. Anything positive Bush has done for the people rather than the corps. They just can't do it.

Oh wait.
He has protected our freedoms from those who hate us for our freedoms.
Oops-- scratch that one.
He restored honesty and integrity to the white house.
Hmmm. Maybe not.
He has restored America's confidence in its electoral system.
Shit.
He represents the best example of American intelligence, ingenuity, and hard work to the rest of the world.
Ouch. It was hard to type that, let alone believe it.

But then I decided it really is a silly piece of legislation in terms of good for humanity. It certainly didn't raise anyone's standard of living or save a life.
I can think of good and bad in every administration, republican and democrat, in my lifetime with the exception of this one. I honestly cannot come up with anything worthwhile George W. Bush has done for Joe Q. Citizen.

Because of George Bush, I know more world leaders than I have ever known in my life. I know more about the politics of other nations. I know more about the plights of others in different cultures. I know much more about American Foreign policy and how it affects the other countries of the world. I know more about the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. I know why they hate us, not Americans but the American Government.

He called us, (Australia) America's 'Deputy Sheriff'(Personally, I chundered) in relation to the affairs of terrorism and pre-emptive strikes in South-East Asia - Did Indonesia, the worlds largest Muslim nation, like the sound of that? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO........ so if you Yanks suddenly become not our allies, or collapse, Indonesia with its 200 million people will have only the goodness of their hearts as a reason not to nab an enourmous, and rich, country.
Mind you, if America can prevent it's own demise for long enough, China's growing dependence on our natural gas will protect us.... I hope.... so there you go, one more small nation has to support you pretty much no matter what.... Check it out... we didn't even sign Kyoto, and we even facilitated that recent Kyoto-Alternative crap.
All because of Bush's big mouth.

Of course, that really WOULD be part of his PERSONAL LIFE and not as his job as so-called "President" so it really WOULDN'T COUNT anyway. But then, you know pukes--they would rather have death and violence than a little sex of ANY kind. :D

37. He successfully fooled lots of people, more than once or twice. |
|
Does that count?
He successfully broke the law, more than once or twice.
Does that count?
He successfully scared/blackmailed/conned/etc. elected representatives into "serving" him.
Does that count?
He successfully funnelled the American treasure into a profitteering scheme for his cronies.
Does that count?
He is successfully bankrupting our country.
Does that count?
He is reversing nearly a century of sacrifice for freedom from oppression by robber barons like him.
Does that count?
He has successfully divided this nation.
Does that count?
He has shrunk the middle class, increased poverty, and concentrated wealth and power.
Does that count?
He has made us the most hated nation on the face of the earth.
Does that count?
He has defied the balance of powers and the Constitution.
Does that count?
He has guaranteed economic security for himself and his cronies on the backs of Americans.
Does that count?
He has proven that even the U.S.A. can be manipulated into doing shit dictators only dream of.
Does that count?
He has proven that, even Americans are gullible enough to be bullshitted, betrayed and exploited.
Does that count?

38. This is a telling point |
|
I have pointed out a few times to co-workers that if the Administration were simply clueless, you might at least expect them to get things right about half the time.
There would appear to be something else going on here. I doubt it is deliberate malice, I suspect an almost religious adherence to their ideology, in the face of reality.

There could be parents who have purchased their kids bike helmets after hearing about all of Bush's accidents. Personally, I think he's just a lush, but if there is a child that ends up wearing a helmet because of his awkwardness, then that's a good thing.
That's the best I can do....

He has managed to help unite the rest of the world against the US, and has set other countries on the path towards independence from America. Other countries are forming coalitions, the EU and the Euro are stronger than ever (and getting stronger daily), and the US is very, very slowly sinking into irrelevance.
It isn't necessarily good for those of us living here, but in the long run it will be good for humanity if the US doesn't dominate the next century as we did the last, given the current political climate here anyway. Of course, that assumes that the next century is dominated by another country/coalition with better human rights records than ours, and so far that doesn't seem to be the case.
But in general, the less the rest of the world caters to the US- and more specifically, US corporate interests- the better it is for humanity.
