The Lemming Syndrome
We have all, at one time or another, heard a version of the joke about the farmer who, in order to get his mule to do something, first, hits him between the eyes with a 2X4. When asked why he did it, he said, that before his mule will do anything, you first have to get his attention.

It appears than somewhere, sometime, someone hit our military between the eyes with a 2X4 because support for * among our troops has finally begun to drop. The men of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines, whom we all support totally, from the ground up, have finally awakened to the fact that Mr * is not healthy for humans and all other living things. Military polls show support for * is dropping and eventually, I believe these polls will mirror the civilian polls we have been seeing for many months now.

But we have another problem that I call the Lemming Syndrome,,,,where people follow him unquestioningly, blindly and totally without understanding of why.
How does this happen? How has America produced such a pack of lemmings who engage in blind obedience, willing to follow * off the edge of a cliff without asking why or undertanding why? Are these people incapable of spotting danger before it happens? Are they deaf to all the warning bells and whistles that fully half of America, liberals, have been sounding loudly since the 2000 election? Or are they on a careening headlong rush toward the edge of that cliff with no brakes and no indication of even wanting to stop?

We Americans have traditionally run around, fingers waving in the air, claiming that "We're Number One!" For * backers, the question ought to be....Number One what?

1. Do you think
Do you think there's any correlation between the drop in military support for * and Ed Schultz broadcasting on AFR, or is it too soon to see the impact?
I don't think they got any liberal radio until a month ago.

2. As I discovered in two tours in Vietnam
it doesnt take long to discovered what is really going on. Those guys in Iraq and Afghanistan are awakening to reality. Flag waving is very nice, very uplifting, but a kevlar vest is better.

5. Latin for "asshole"
That's a great graphic!

Here in the Greater Philadelphia Metropolitan Area, some of us spell his (ass-)Holy name as "Santorectum".

Amen!

7. It's a Bob Kerrey quote.
I can't take credit.
It is true, though. Santorum is really Latin for asshole, or "of the asshole", maybe.

3. But, for every warning bell or whistle they hear...
But, for every warning bell or whistle they hear from the liberals, which is not very often, they hear extended rebuttles and dismissals from a range of 'experts' on the conservative side. Media bias is real and far greater than most people have yet imagined. Remember, most people turn to the traditional networks or FAUX News for their information--and it's at least 9 to 1 against the liberal facts(in volume alone--and the remaining 1 gets special attention devoted to discrediting it).

If anything is amazing (and cause for hope), it's that the truth is getting out and being increasingly believed despite the tiny amount that reaches the average citizen. The Truth really is powerful stuff.

4. It's called "patriotism". Our country right or wrong. We will follow our
president anywhere. He is always right because he is our president.

6. Drop? from what?
Okay I guess there was an article and I didn't read it yet...BUT...

did anyone ever post the exit poll data showing how members of the military voted in Nov 2004? As far as I know, that data was never released. The fact that it was never released speaks volumes itself.

So I'm just wondering how much the military ever did support Bush, at least since Iraq became a debacle.

9. Lemming Syndrome - that's a perfect description.
Watch for a drug company to pick this up and market pills for CLS (Chronic Lemming Syndrome). Scratch that. Drug companies love lemmings.

10. Number one as in silly contests between young men
who haven't found anything to do beyond the silly contests.
