Whoa. Tweety slapped Torie Clark down. Is this a transitional moment?
He cut her off at the end saying that any other nation or person could use her arguments for a war of choice. Literally cut her off. It was a beautiful and rare thing. Do we need to quit chasing Tweety? Only time will tell, but got to give it up to him for that one.

1. We bust on Tweety.... he busts on them.... every action has an
equal reaction, and not necessarily opposite it would appear.

9. Yeah, but tomorrow he'll be spouting the
same ole right-wing talking points.

Tweety's turned this corner several times before. He'll flip back by tomorrow evening.....I'd bet real money on it!

he takes no prisoners on. He didn't want to go in and he's been bitching ever since. But tomorrow he'll dis a Dem. It's the way he is.

16. He was practically peeing his pants
after Chimpy declared "mission accomplished" and strutted around in that flight suit. I don't watch him anymore, but I seem to recall that he runs hot and cold on that one as well.

28. was going to point that out, too
Tweety only goes "tough" on women, pussy that he is.
He'd NEVER challenge a John McCain, who makes him all gooey inside, or a G. Gordon Liddy type.
He's a wimp, so he tries to buy some street cred by beating up on an easy mark.

Seriously? Do you know how many times people have asked "Is Tweety coming over to our side?"

I can't even count it anymore.

22. He sure as hell was there this time.
I know, but let's accept a victory when we have it. This was a beautiful thing. The look on Torie Clarke's face gives me hope. Check it out on line. This is one where I thank him. At DU, we are often "pure," and one mistake and you're done. Or we can't appreciate when we are winning. This was one to just accept for what it is. Thanks, Chris Matthews. This time. And with hope that this is not an aberration, but a trend.

THIS TIME

He has been gradually more and more against the Iraq War (esp. the reasoning for invading).

Don't let his occasional lapses of sanity fool you. He has made his preferences quite clear.

14. He does that sort of thing every now and then.
I've seen a number of times when people here got all excited about how Tweety had changed, but the next day, it's back to the same old thing. I think he just likes keeping his viwers a little off balance.

Nice animation you've got there.

15. He has been consistent regarding the illgal Invasion of Iraq.
He was against the invasion before it began and has been critical of the Occupation. Other than that, he is a persistent RW shill.

20. How do you figure?
He's against the invasion, but licks the boots of every person responsible for it every time they are on his show.

That's not being against anything. Matthews is for one thing: Matthews. He kisses their asses so they will continue to come on his show. Oprah is harder on her guests than this guy.

over Chimpy's stunt on the aircraft carrier, with the flight suit and the codpiece. He got all excited about the statue coming down too, as if it vindicated everything. I admit that I can't speak to what his stances are now, since I never watch him, but when I was watching him, I don't think I ever saw him be consistent about anything ever.

17. Tweety doesn't seem to mind...
...if he's nationally diagnosed as suffering from Multiple Personality Disorder.

In fact, I'm beginning to believe that MSNBC is getting behind the positioning of him as this type of person. I mean, from a marketing standpoint, it's unique. One day he shills for Bush, the next day he bashes him. Tune in tomorrow, and watch him fellate John McCain. Tomorrow, he'll provide a handjob to RFK Jr. It's all relative in the Tweety mind, as he gets paid the same from week to week.

And it's more than relative to MSNBC, as they can claim that they are "balanced."

It's a win-win for everyone except those who think.

I would have a roomful of nickels.

No, it isn't a transitional moment.

I guarantee you...no, better...I will bet you every possession I own that, by this time next week, there will be at least five different threads up about what a suck-ass GOP lickspittle he is.

(Note: the above should not be construed as an actual bet)

(Note again: You know I'm right)

That's all this post was about. I hold out no hope for Tweety, but the message he sent tonight was a beautiful thing. Cut the bitterness on this one, and share the moment. We are on the same team.

You think *that* was bitter? :P

Besides, and I do hate to nitpick, but "transitional moment" is a far cry from "singular moment." So your statement, "That's all this post was about," isn't quite true.

I just honestly wish people wouldn't bother with the guy. He's a shill. Every once in a while he throws us a bone, and we celebrate him. Then he goes back into shill mode and hundreds of DUers, who were suckered into watching by that bone, post outraged howls all over GD. It's like living inside the mind of someone with multiple-personality disorder.

Besides, I can't get jazzed up over the fact that this lickspittle finally said something worth repeating. If you like that kind of thing, I have a busted watch to sell you. You'll love it; it's right twice a day.

26. Apparently, we have found each other. You think I am naive. No chance.
Spare me the busted watch. That comment was beneath you, and incredibly obvious. But the rest was nearly poetic. And we are on the same side. I enjoyed your response no end. "Post outraged howls," are you channeling Alan Ginsberg? A beautiful phrase. I can't tell you how pleased I am to read your writing. I am in my 50s, and considered a very successful writer. But I can't come up with what you came up here. Will you share a little background? I pledge that I am a harmless American who is losing his country. You give me hope. And you know of William Pitt. I am knocked out here.

25. Your purity and perfection is something we will worship unconditionally.
My apologies, but over and over tonight, I have seen posts that have made it clear that errors aren't allowed, and those who agree with us aren't good enough. Like Tweety when he finally gets it right, AARP and many other allies. I HATE the DLC. OK? I am a John Murtha Democrat. A Carl Levin Democrat. A Paul Wellstone Democrat, without the party emphasis. I am intrigued by your Brokeback Mountain comment, but have not heard it. And I ask you to share it. But as you do so, I make the deal: I will be pleased to watch that, if you agree to watch the end of the Tweety interview. Quid pro quo. Obviously, your post touched me. Hope all is well in California. It's winter in Michigan. As it should be.

30. I don't live in California - never have
I'm not going to repeat Tweety's comment about Brokeback Mountain, but it included the words "bareback" and "mounting." It wasn't funny, it was in poor taste, and it was a slur directed against queer people, of which I am one.

We don't need friends like Tweety, even when he sometimes by design "gets it right." He's a jerk. Period.
