He was a wee bit in error;

02/03/06 agencies: Afghan militants getting sophisticated arms
Al Qaeda and Taliban militants are coordinating attacks on Afghan government troops and foreign forces and using increasingly sophisticated, and deadly, weapons, Afghanistan‘s defense minister said on Friday.

Gee, now that the Taleban are no longer our buddies, and in fact they probably really dislike us now...this is a bad thang, right?

02/04/06 Reuters: Afghans flee scene of biggest battle in months
Hundreds of Afghan villagers have fled their homes after the biggest battle in months between Taliban insurgents and U.S. and Afghan government forces, provincial officials said on Saturday.

02/03/06 Aljareera: Taliban attack police convoys
Taliban fighters have launched four attacks on police convoys, killing at least three policemen in the southern Afghan province of Helmand.

And a whole bunch more day by day by day of death & destruction at The Forgotten War;

3. The Taleban & AQ in Afghanistan (& Pakistan) sure don't seem to.
Perhaps bush can tuck his 3 prs of rolled socks back down his nifty military uniform and fly a jet to Afghanistan to show them idiot Taleban & AQ a "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED" sign.

That oughta git it through their heads! Worked before. Right? Hello?

4. Members of the Taliban can self-destruct for the next 20 years
Edited on Wed Feb-08-06 09:42 PM by enigma000
It won't change the the reality on the ground. There will never be an Taliban as the Afghan head of state. Few, if any senior cabinet officials will ever be Taliban. No Taliban will ever be the Afghan ambassador to the UN.

They lost - with or without a photo op of the Shrub.

10. So they get a few seats in Parliament
Perhaps even a Taliban governor of a province. Thats about as far as I expect them to go - a second tier political party, like Canada's NDP. Two or three dozen seats at the federal level & a couple of provincial governments.

6. Hey, if you were stupid enough to believe that a tactic, 'terrorism' used
for millenniums by peoples under occupation, could be defeated by bombing some country that had nothing to do with a group occupying them under terrorism, then you deserve some sort of first class gullibility prize...or is it just a 'being a stupid American' prize??

Why on earth would you think bombing Afghanistan for 10 months would do ANYTHING to solve the crime perpetrated on 9-11???????

9. I still remember
sometime shortly after November 2nd, 2004 Laura Bush went to Afghainstan and she came back shortly after that (about two/three days I believe) and she said everything was fine and dandy and than later that week a report came out about a woman who was gang raped. :(
