I nearly fell out of my seat when I heard that.

I went tonight to the Inauguration of the Mayor and other city officials and we greeted a veteran who came home last week after spending a year in Iraq. I wondered how he will feel about his service being demeaned that way.

My Congressman was there, but I didn't have the opportunity to say more than a quick hello. He was on his way to another event.

What a low class embarrassment this man is to this country. No, money cannot buy you class, manners or sensitivity. Just the presidency.

Yes, this will piss off anybody with a wounded soldier, sailor or marine in the family. That writes off 40,000 Americans or so out of 200 million voting age folks.

To a chickenhawk, this kind of lighthearted support for the troops is not an embarrassment -- it is a manly nod of the head through manly irony. The kind of machismo available to a man who has started two wars and engineered the deaths somewhere up in six figures needs no connection to actual bravery or sacrifice. The chickenhalk mind considers actual bravery and actual combat to be a minor detail compared to the underlying power of an abstract love for killing.

Thus the wingnuts are never fazed by the parade of disgusting hypocritical postures from the Coward In Chief. They are cowards, too.
