since when is anger a negative?
that's what they're covering on c-span - how we are "temperamentally unsuited" to lead as we are too angry! hey, christos, remember the just anger of Jesus in the temple?

3. Or you're not paying attention.
That guy from West Virginia obviously can't think for himself. Every word out of his mouth was Rush or Insannity propaganda: from the "Democrat" Party to the crapola surrounding the CSK funeral. That guy probably has no CLUE what the real Democratic agenda is because he refuses to pay attention.

9. You gotta be angry at seeing America being destroyed. Being angry..
does not necessarily mean being demented.

4. If reality is boring, focus on something else
This is political info-tainment and it's about teasing public opinion.

What is bad is good, what is irrelevant is a crisis, etc., anything to keep the viewership tuning in.

5. Anyone who isn't angry about
the war, the deficits, Katrina, the dismantling of the Constitution, the corruption, the incompetence

has to be the most ignorant, uninformed person imaginable.

If you're NOT angry, then you are complicit.

7. It's our own fault.
Remember when we characterized ReTHUGlicans as just a bunch of "Angry White Men"?

It was one of the Foundations of the "Sensitive 90's Guy" era that anger and passion were bad, because angry men became violent men, and almost always vented it on women.

And now anger is good? Oh, HORRORS! Where's my smelling salts!

Remember Swift Boating?

Who really is the ANGRY (HATE) Party.

10. When it is an excuse to be less than civil.
Personally, I think more constructive things are accomplished by going forward with attitudes like commitment, enthusiasm, and integrity. Still, anger is as anger does. It can be a cleansing, helpful thing when it is brief and expressed with civility.

It's ok to be angry with someone. It's not ok to abuse them, physically, emotionally, or verbally because I'm angry. There are positive and negative ways to express anger, and I think that harboring anger is destructive.

As far as rhetoric goes, I don't think anyone needs to be casting stones. Their anger with liberals who interfere with their love of racism, classism, religious intolerance, hegemony, and all things built on hate and fear; their "war" against the rest of the world and against their fellow citizens to protect those things is one big source of Democratic anger.

As far as biblical references go, the only time I remember Jesus showing anger is in the temple. Of course, that's probably not the only time he got mad! That only recorded time, he was angry at "his own," those who were supposed to be leaders of his faith, for their corruption. He didn't express that kind of anger outside with the rest of the world, or it wasn't recorded. We are rightfully angry with the leaders of our government for their corruption, rather than with the rest of the world.

12. Anger works! Swift Boting ... Zell Miller , etc.
It's only when these fat cat corporate bloated politicians are truly AFRAID of losing the next election will they act in the welfare of the "Average American."

Remember, neither party wanted to end the Vietnam War. It took the people protesting and marching in the streets.

Yes, it's time to get our Congress Critter's attention!

16. Anger focused on issues, not people = GOOD.
There's nothing wrong with being angry at injustice, lack of compassion, government intrusion, inequity - all these things that impinge on basic human rights and freedoms.

But, you're right, if we let anger become all about certain people (I hate Bush, I hate Republicans, etc.), it's not at all useful or good for the party.

19. However,. . .
. . .in this case the anger is directed at certain people and what they represent. The coherent strategy for dems should be to "throw the bums out so we can begin repairing the damage!" The reason for the anger is that we know what a mess now has to be cleaned up. And, that is the one and only strategy. Getting into details is what lost the dems the bulk of the electorate. Time to fight fire with fire. They are wrong, they are stupid, they are causing untold damage to this country, and hell yes we're angry.

a little more of both if we're gonna win in November.
