The real story, the true story, the ONLY story that should be reported
about this CIA/Times book that's coming out is NOT that the CIA ignored the info coming out of Iraq telling them that the country had no WMD's. They didn't. They kept reporting this to Dick and George, and Dick and George (mostly Dick) said "go back until you give me the result I want."

This is OLD news. Hell, I remember the scuttlebutt on the net before the war started, saying the CIA was pissed off about they abuse they were getting from the VP's office. The Downing Street memos weren't any surprise to me -- were they to you? Neither is this book -- the only thing new is the details. You and I, we've known all this all along. Either the media is too freakin dumb to realize the obvious, which I don't believe, or they know full well what's going on and and they're letting it happen anyway for reasons of greed or idealogical extremism -- which I do believe.

And unless they change their ways, the sad fact is that we're all screwed.

1. Welcome.
Yeah, we're probably screwed, but ya gotta go down fighting, right?

2. There's so much they want us to mis-recall.
Did you know, for example, that Saddam kicked the weapons inspectors out of Iraq? :eyes:

4. Hans Blix: Iraq destroyed WMD 10 years ago

Former UN chief weapons inspector Hans Blix now believes Iraq destroyed its weapons of mass destruction 10 years ago and that intelligence agencies were wrong in their weapons assessment that led to war.

6. There was fairly open discussion
of the unease of the defense intelligence community about the Bush Administration's heavy handed processing of the data and suppression of alternate views on govexec.com. There was even some talk of a "Generals' Mutiny". Government Executive is kind of a trade journal for government bureaucrats and the like. Good read, usually.
