R's are like children who whine to an all too willing media echo chamber,
who are apparently willing to repeat any accusation, no matter how baseless. The latest brouhaha about President Jimmy Carter and Rev. Dr. Joseph Lowery political comments at Coretta Scott King's funderal service on Tuesday is the latest example. To not speak up about what is happening in our country today would have been to dishonor what she fought for all her life.

Sadly, much of it may be that controversy sells, but it reeks of an appalling lack of journalistic ethics. Our democracy cannot survive when the media fails to do their job to hold this, or any administration, accountable. Repeating every inane Republican slur, thereby giving it credence, and covering the horse race aspect of politics to the exclusion of searching and reporting the truth, is no way to run a network, a newspaper or news magazine.

We have no choice but to hold their feet to the fire when they fail to do their jobs. We have our work cut out for us.
