You know, over the years we knew that Charlie Brown was never going to kick that football. Yet there he was, year after year, enticed by Lucy into giving it the old Peanuts try. And every freakin' time having her pull the ball away. Charlie Brown, being a sweet-natured and inoffensive little nebbish never did put his kicking foot where it would do the most good to remedy the situation. It would surely have been worth whatever hate mail Charles Schulz would have gotten to have Charlie Brown kick Lucy's rump-ah. Just once.
Similarly, over and over again, we see MSNBC, its parent company, its sister cable stations and its auntie and uncle network outlets, gulled by the corrupt Bush administration. "There's a major speech coming! Bush is going to lay it all out this time for sure, boy!" And every freakin' time, the administration gets major air time to trot out a bunch of lies. The networks and the cable channels, being supine whores, never do tell the administration to stick it, and that if Bush actually says something significant, they'll cover that, but they're not interrupting their line-up for another 20 minutes of unrebutted bloviating by Chimpy McCokespoon.
But it would be worthwhile to see it happen just once.
