Quid pro quo...or how China gets Taiwan? What do YOU think? |
|
Just thinking about China and one of the ways it might benefit from the United States' attack on Iran. Regardless of whether or not Israel or the U.S. strikes the first blow against Iran, it's the U.S. which will be doing the heavy lifting in regards to a conflict with that country. Already being overextended in Iraq, any protracted battle with Iran will stretch the U.S. forces very, very thinly.
It occurred to me that under those circumstances, a Chinese attack on Taiwain would be most opportune. Though the U.S. has said they might nuke the Chinese if they invaded Taiwan, I find it extremely unlikely that the U.S. would actually do it.
Anyone else have thoughts on what other countries will try to get away with because they know the U.S. is busy beating up on some other country?
Thanks!

1. Look at the world's trouble spots |

North Korea vs South Korea Russia vs its rebel Muslim provinces France vs one of its former colonies in West Africa Zimbabwe vs its people Belarus vs its people Venezuela vs US friendly governments in Latin America
Do the Chicoms even have the troop transports necessary for an invasion? The People's Liberation Army has the firepower to level the island but could the take it intact? I doubt they would act before the 2008 Olympics.
