Kline's views on teen sex unclear

Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline, who has concentrated on protecting young teens from sexual abuse, drew a legal distinction Friday between the activities of boys and girls.

Kline's comments about oral sex included stating that it is illegal for boys 15 and younger to perform the act -- but he wasn't sure if the same is true for girls.

-snip-

Bonnie Scott Jones, a lawyer from the Center of Reproductive Rights, sought to get specifics from Kline, one of the nation's most visible opponents of abortion.

Kline targeted his June 2003 opinion at Kansas abortion clinics, saying that when they received a patient under the age of 16, they had to report the case as evidence of a crime. Kansas law makes certain sexual activities with people under 16 illegal.

- this snip holds the interview with what Kline said. how this man got to be an Att. Gen. is a wonder.-

(head thunking on desk)

I'm glad he has such a good handle on things.............sigh

What an ass.

I did not realize it was his decision to determine what was appropriate sexual behavior. No wonder this state sucks....ahhhhhhh

2. When a patient under the age of 16
shows up in a prenatal care clinic, do they have to report that as evidence of a crime as well? If not, why the double standard.

Kansas is going to end up making it impossible for kids to get any kind of sexual healthcare at all. Kids with pregnancies and STDs, or any other types of sexual health concerns, will likely just not get any help, rather than risk bringing the criminal justice system in.

People with teenage kids would probably be well advised to avoid that state. My guess is that it will soon be crawling with untreated diseases.

3. We already are crawling with untreated diseases
called Neocons.

It is pretty nasty right now but there are a few things happening it just takes time when the RW noise is so loud.

5. Lawrence, Kansas is a great place to live.
One of the bluer towns in the country.

I grew up in a couple of the population 40Kish towns and have spent much time in suburban Kansas City. These places are pretty much like their analogues elsewhere in the country.

I'm not really sure where Kline's ilk comes from. Presumably he draws his support from the smaller towns and rural areas. Don't think I'd wanna live in those, but that's just me.

6. No it isn't.
It certainly does not give you much opportunity to get bored!

I would not move from here but then I am used to dealing with it and really have no desire to live in a place where everyone things or agrees with me. I just wish there was a little more balance in everything from the population to politics. Where I live, in the Eastern third, is where the majority lives. If I lived out West it might be a lot harder to deal.

8. Or how about a "confidential" adoption agency?
Does Catholic Family Services have to bring in the police if a 15 year old wants to give up her child for adoption?

Good question Crunchy
