House Rs are in a party retreat today???
Wouldn't you like to be a fly on that wall? Are they rethinking that leadership election? Is Delay outlining with each one of the all the reasons they should appoint him to as many positions of power as possible if they know what's good for them? Has Boehner received a horse's head yet?

2. Then they wonder
why people are ticked off at their excess. A retreat? Cuz the last week of work killed them? They get the longest break possible and then are back to work for one week and have the temerity to go on a retreat?

3. Too bad the dems don't do this sort of thing
or if they DO, they don;t do a better job of it..

These types of "meetings" are where consensus and focused messages are "born"..

It's WHY republicans control the message, and it's HOW they circulate their venomous garbage.

5. The repugs control the message because they have 1 message
I wrote this earlier in another thread and no one responded...It was in response to an arugement about DNC vs DLC.

You are right they do meet and form consesus

There are too many individual groups trying to achieve their own goals not the goals of the Democrat populace.

And this is the tool that the neocons exploit every minute of everyday. Everyone is arguing over which group respresents who and where the money is going blah, blah, blah...While we can't come up with an organized plan the neocons keep on marching.

In post #12 madfloridian points out that there are several Democrat organizations, all with different purposes, different angles different goals. These organizations are fighting with each other, damaging each other, trying to get the upperhand on each other.

I am not advocating that everyone has to be lockstep but good grief people, if we can't get one consistant message from all of the groups, "Houston we have a problem"!!

Is it just me? Do you not see the problem?

Now that I have stated what I see as a huge part of the problem, "How to Fix it" is another task I would have to give thought too

Just my two cents...

7. I agree with you. The dems need to meet and arrive at concensus
too. However, I bet the concensus building would be on issues, and not on which closet to stuff the skeletons into or who was going to get taken out if they showed disloyalty to the criminal element in the party.

9. I wrote several "angry" letters back in '02 and again in '04
pointing out to my senators that very thing.. Apparently the DLC likes having a "scattered agenda". Trying to be ALL things to ALL people may be nice in the abstract, but it doesn't work all that well at election time.

I have long agonized over the SLOWNESS of my party. They seem to prefer defense, but you don;t score all that often on defense..

:(

Just look at the 2000 election. The swiftboating and all the rest.

Im wishing we as Dems would have figured out a counter or better yet an assault. Offense works best.
