RW racists' effect on the nation |
|
A few years ago when I was in high school, about a year after 9/11, my history class did an activity regarding the Japanese internment in WWII. People who supported the internment would move to one side of the room and people who didn't would move to another. To my horror, that 51% of my class was on the "pro" side. Some of the kids who were on that side stated that they supported it "for the safety of the Japanese and because national security is more important than the rights of one race." I asked them "how would you like it if you were in the camps" and they replied "I wouldn't mind." Needless to say, these kids were self-professed conservatives. I was shocked, saddened, and angered to see that over half the kids in my history class were racists.
This activity proved to me not only is racism alive in America, but if our government were to do the same thing to liberals, gays, and/or Muslims, much of the population would happily go along with it.

1. They're fine with it because they never believe it's going to happen to |

them. But, whoa, watch out when they feel squeezed. They come out with both barrells blazing (and quite literally from the right, guns shooting!)
