1. It's easy. Just do the opposite of what the screaming nutjob says. |
|
No, I haven't tried following him. I don't gamble.

13. He's the wild man of financial advice on CNBC |
|
Throws a chair on just about every report. He's a buffoon with an audience. Stocks he touts generally go up for a while, just because there's a mass that moves when he speaks. http://moneycentral.msn.com/content/CNBCTV/TV_Info/P108231.asp

He's well known for his excited, amped-up behaviour, and it has nothing to do with drugs.
Inform yourself before making such dumb statements.

7. I enjoy watching him and take his advice sometimes. DId good |
|
with his recommendation of JDSU. Bought at 2 and it's now 3. He doesn't seem to favor repubs or Democrats. He just makes suggestions and with oil the way it is and military budget, he'd be crazy not to recommend plays based on them.

8. Thanks "FloridaPat" I was trying to get some perspective on this.... |
|
If you think "some of his advice" can be good...then is he any different that the rest of CNN even though his "style" seems bizarre? What about what CNBC PUMPS all day?
It's hard to know but if he makes folks money..then he can't be ALL BAD can he...?

10. I think you are being coy |
|
I personally think "making plays" that take advantage of global capitalist oppression to "get some" for yourself is immoral.
How can you ever expect to change the oiligarchy if you are profiting off the misery they perpetrate?
But like I said I think you are being coy because I've read your posts for a while.

socially responsible investing, quoting him on it. He seems to think that if you're nuts enough to care about "socially responsible investing" you should do as he says, make money on companies you might loathe, and give part of your profits to worthy causes.
It just gags me.

16. It gags me...but if one is "pragmatic" does he give really good tips? |
|
If folks think they won't have any retirement or SS Benefits in their later years does Cramer's shilling give them an "edge?" Is he GOOD? That's how we should judge Cramer... Are his picks good enough to replace Bush's crap Stock Market and Economy ...and is he REAL and a Populist enough that he would really try to stear his audience to places where they can make more money than their 401-K's and SS Investments would make them.
That's what I was trying to get at here.

14. I think knowing where folks are trying to make money these days is |
|
important. Hey...I was a CNBC devotee before the Dot Com Crash going back to the old FNN Network before CNBC bought them out and then MSNBC bought out CNBC.
So...there may be a "whiff of ruefulness" you picked up...but if Cramer is making folks MONEY then I'd like to know that all my time wasn't wasted...so..that's where I am on this.
Is he a total SHILL or does he have some value. He seems to try to position himself as a "Populist Capitalist." Is he for real? Does his advice work...even though he seems like a P.T Barnum hawking his Circus?

19. The show started out quietly. He was a little off the wall, but very |
|
entertaining. As more people watched the show, the more he got popular. Now they have him on a lot during the day. He's entertaining if nothing else. Also gives you an idea of what's going on in the world financially.

28. The question to ask yourself is: are you an investor or a trader? |
|
There is a big difference. A trader is a speculator. That's what Cramer is doing. He makes informed guesses, and that's all they are, about where he sees XYZ's stock price in the next few weeks. He bases this on very short-term indicators--where interest rates will be, other developments in XYZ's industry, pending lawsuits, etc.
He doesn't care as much whether it's really a good COMPANY--whether the management is competent, they have long-term R&D plans, they have a moat around their business and industry dominance, etc. Those are LONG TERM opinions. It's still guessing, but that's what an INVESTOR cares about. What do I think this company will do in the next, say, decade? What is its long-term track record? Does it pay a decent dividend? Is it inexpensive (low P/E)? etc.
I'm a long-term investor, so I could care less what Cramer says. A while back some magazine did a study of Cramer's picks. If you bought everything he recommended, you would have lost significant money. I'll try to find the article.

Is war profiteering what is basically fueling our economy?

now around $85. I figured * and his gang would be in jail by now. At least Halliburton involved in numerous investigations and in trouble. Now you see why I'm not giving stock market advice.

with that..Cramer and MSNBC are probably where it's at. For some of us our consciences lose us money and we are okay with that, too. I had to get out of Merck when their drugs killed folks...but I didn't lose money because I bought it so cheap years ago. I was sad to sell it...but I couldn't stomach what they had done. If Bush settles the malpractice suits it's probably a good buy right now...but I couldn't touch it again. Yet, I owned it when the bad stuff was going on. So...how does one know?
Different strokes for different folks, I think...it's okay by me...but I worry about Cramer being a little OTT for newbie investors that they could lose alot.

25. A friend of mine had a professional financial advisor. He managed |
|
to wipe her out. Then there is Wade Cook. In fact, a lot of financial advisors wiped people out when the dot com bust occured. Very few financial advisors can go through a down turn. Even a few mutual funds went under. It's tough to make a call when you know nothing or even a lot. Even Donald Trump went bankrupt a few times.

Frankly, I wouldn't want to touch their blood money. If you invest in their illegal war, does that not make you an accomplice to their crimes?
