Why did Bush break the story about an LA bomber today ?
There were so many opportunities in the past, including the last election. Was there enough pressure put on him by the House Intelligence Committee? I doubt that. So what is going on that Bush would come forward with this story? Is this guy now at Gitmo? What happened to him? They did capture him, didn't they??

Perhaps there is a very big story about to break? And that is why Bush is coming out with this bullshit story? He wants to divert some attention from another story? Something smells about this shoe bomber story???

14. Los Angeles. Bush on TV spoke of an alledged plot in 2002. Said they
foiled a "shoe bomber takes over plane to fly it into Library Tower" scenario. Four years later seems an obvious ploy for this "disclosure" given the current pressure Bushco find themselves under. Clutching at straws comes to mind, but who knows.

22. That Downtown Library
Edited on Thu Feb-09-06 07:36 PM by Juniperx
Is right next door to the building I work in... That bastard is lying, I just know it. It infuriates me that he thinks he has the right to play with our emotions like that! If we can prove he is lying about crap like this, can't we sue him? Isn't that like yelling "fire" in crowded theater or something?

Frankly, not a day goes by that I don't think of some awful thing that could happen here as I drive to work with the LA skyline on the horizon. The Ameriquest blimp was flying over yesterday afternoon because the Grammy Awards were in town... a lot of people were en route from the nearby hotels... and I was so paranoid because it looked like that blimp was getting way too close to the buildings outside my office window. I must constantly remind myself that these lying sacks of excrement are doing these things to justify their illegal actions. Now mind you, I'm not a paranoid type personality. I'm the one who keeps her head during times of emergency, but even knowing the chances are that we are being taken for a ride by BushCo, I think about these things daily whilst in my stone, iron and glass perch above the city. What was once a beautiful view is now the stuff nightmares are made of.

Thanks a lot, you bastards!!!

And, by the way... what did they do to the guy? Where is he?

If they had actually foiled such a thing, they would have been crowing and strutting and patting each other on the back! Bovine excrement! They are lying their asses off!

I was gonna answer your question with my trusty Yahoo link and they changed the damn title to this:

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060210/ap_on_go_pr_wh/bush_35;_ylt=AqE2ddayUrU_pWdjva2YXfNqP0AC;_ylu=X3oDMTBiMW04NW9mBHNlYwMlJVRPUCUl

Bush: U.S. Surveillance Helped Stop Attack

Oh bullshit.

But at least they know what the point of the Bush peddling is. Spying.

And I focused on this in my earlier thread:

The president said the plot was derailed when a Southeast Asian nation arrested a key al-Qaida operative. Bush did not name the country or the operative.

In other words, the great Bush and our mighty intelligence didn't do jacksthit as usual. Some unnamed Asian nation did it.

I didn't even have time to focus on the blowing open the cockpit with a shoebomb (wouldn't that blow everyone up oh har har har) and THEN flying in into the "Liberty Tower." Bush doesn't like the word Library apparently. Welcome to the nightmare that never ends.

13. Why didn't they use it as proof wiretaps worked?
Interesting take on CBS that the person who supplied the info was tortured. Weird end of segment exchange when the reporter stated he was tortured and Schieffer said "or whatever you want to call it. But it didn't take place in the U.S." I'm listening from another room so I didn't see their facial expressions but the entire tone was one of skepticism.

Another torture case about to break?

going to light his shoe on fire? if bombs were gonna go off, how would they fly the plane. also i don't think any terrorists would try flying planes into buildings again. not after what happened in pennsylvania. once the passengers realize what's going on they're not going to let it happen. he could of come up with a better story.

23. If This Did Happen In 2002 Do You Think Rove Consciously Said.....
the following:

No - don't go out and announce this great thing that we just did. We saved all those people in that Library Tower in LA - but lets not tell anybody about this now. Let's keep it to ourselves. Let's wait and keep this story in our back pocket in case we need it to get out of a jam later on in this pResidency.

It seems to me that if this really did go down in 2002 - this would have been headlines all over the place - "Bush's Anti-Terrorist Policies Save Americans - LA Tower Terrorist Plot Twarted"

Or it really didn't happen like we're being told - they're in trouble and were just looking for something - anything - to divert attention from *'s breaking the law.

Which scenario above seems more plausible?

BUSH REVEALS L.A. TERROR PLOT

Bush Says L.A. Skyscraper Was Terror Target

arrow POSTED: 11:11 am EST February 9, 2006
arrow UPDATED: 3:32 pm EST February 9, 2006

WASHINGTON --
President Bush said the U.S.-led global war on terror has "weakened and fractured"
al-Qaida and allied groups, outlining as proof new details about the multinational
cooperation that foiled purported terrorist plans to fly a commercial airplane into
the tallest skyscraper on the West Coast.

"The terrorists are living under constrant pressure and this adds to our security,"
Bush said.
"When terrorists spend their days working to avoid death or capture,
it's harder for them to plan and execute new attacks on our country.
By striking the terrorists where they live, we're protecting the American homeland."

But the president said the anti-terror battle is far from over.

"The terrorists are weakenend and fractured, yet they're still lethal,"
the president said in a speech at the National Guard Memorial Building.
"We cannot let the fact that America hasn't been attacked in 41/2 years
since September the 11th lull us into the illusion that the threats to
our nation have disappeared. They have not."

Bush has referred to the 2002 plot before. In an address last October,
he said the United States and its allies had foiled at least 10 serious
plots by the al-Qaida terror network in the last four years,
including plans for Sept. 11-like attacks on both U.S. coasts.
The White House initially would not give details of the plots but
later released a fact sheet with a brief, and vague, description of each.

The president filled in details on Thursday.

He still hasn't given any details to speak of... and after thinking on this a while, I realized that the main downtown LA library is nestled between a bunch of buildings that are much taller than it is. Seems an unlikely target, don't you think? What with US Bank, KPMG, BofA and a bunch more buildings that are actually "skyscrapers". The library isn't even tall enough to be considered a "skyscraper"!

28. If they'd really foiled a shoebomber plot in Los Angeles
...Bush** would STILL be rubbing it in Dem faces. "We're tough on terrorism -- we stopped the evil Los Angeles shoebomber!" I can guarantee we'd be sick of hearing the Shrub remind us about it by now. And yet, even the mayor of L.A. is in the dark about this incident!

Another thing, remember that back in 2002 BushCo were very busy trying to conjure evidence to convince us that war with Iraq was necessary to fight terrorism. They'd have jumped on a foiled terrorist plot as further proof of Saddam's evil intents.

BushCo are really losing their grip now, dropping clues all over the place that they're full of it and have been all along. You'd have to be dumb as rocks not to see they're lying...So I fully expect that at this very moment freepers are high-fiving each other -- "Got the dirty terrorist bastard, whoever he is!" -- and sending congratulatory notes to the WH. lol

I hope to hell every Dem senator investigates this claim as well as the Governor and Mayor of LA and any other person of authority in that city!
