9. The real reason the mayor of LA doesn't know about this

is that the whole plot was more of an idea among al quada operatives in the far east. There were no hijackers, no shoe bombs, only plans.

I know the freepers are going to paint this as our courageous president roundhouse kicking a terrorist with a smoldering shoe out the door of an in-flight airliner, but it was a plan in the early stages, nothing more.
