Do you think Republicans are GLAD that 9/11 happened? |
|
Edited on Thu Feb-09-06 08:56 PM by Rocknrule
I don't see why not. They use it as an excuse for everything and throw it in the faces of anyone who opposes them. I'll bet their kids say stuff to them like "give me an Xbox 360 for Christmas or the terraists win." Basically, 9/11 gave them a ticket to do whatever they want.

Even if they weren't behind it, it was a FANTASTIC stroke of luck for them. That's why I think Bush LIHOP.
Unless some Republican had a friend or relative who perished there. Then they have mixed feelings.
And by "Republicans," I think in this case we mean the crime syndicate, not the rank and file who vote Republican.

10. Does a bear shit in the woods? Let me just quote this, |
|
"Lucky me, little did I know that I would hit the trifecta." GWB shortly after 9/11 What does that tell us? And like you said, they use 9/11 to promote their evil agenda. So I am guessing that they are indeed happy that 9/11 happened. Couple that with the knowledge that they hampered President Clinton's efforts to pass legislation for greater powers to thwart terrorism during his term, ie accusing him of wagging the dog to get Osama, and so on and so forth.

and 9/11 came in mighty handy. 'twas a match made in hell and they have been exploiting it and will continue to exploit it in order to achieve their goal of global hegemony.
as Rumsfeld would say, " are we happy about 9/11? You betcha !"
edited punctuation.

13. I think they were *delighted* in a political sense. |
|
The economy was starting to tank and there weren't many issues that were working for them at that time. Anti-abortion - not a big seller. Redistribute wealth to the wealthy -- not going over well. Fumbling simple-minded prez... we don't have to go there.
No Russkies to fear and only gays to serve as all-purpose domestic scapegoats... and even that, like anti semitism in Europe, can begin to wear thin after a while.
Finding an external enemy was the order of the day. Iraq seems to have been the plan but Al Qaeda changed the scenario a bit.
Yes... they definitely wanted and counted on a foreign war to 'change the subject ' politically. And they were correct; it got the GOP control of both houses in '02 and got a sure loser re-elected in '04.

You know. "Our adversaries aren't really human, they don't have emotions like we do, and they most certainly don't feel pain if you eviscerate them while they're still alive."
Dems and repubs in the US, believe it or not, still have essentially the same culture. It's weakened a bit, in my lifetime, sadly.

your run of the mill registered republican being 'happy' about it, but they will immediately tell you they are glad Bush was 'in charge' at the time.
The neocons in power were abso-fuckin-lutely ecstatic. It gave them the political cover to invade Iraq, and it may yet give them the cover to go into Iran as well.
There was a great comic in Doonesbury after 9/11 where Bush said "Thank you evil doers".

Just imagine if 9/11 never happened. What would this administration have under its belt? georgie's whole term has been 9/11. Oh yeah, the stem cell thingie the month before while he was on vacation. Other than that, they have nothing.
