No, that's not a dating tip. It's an impeachment tip.

Take part in one of these events <1> on Saturday, January 7, and call your Congress Member as part of a National Call-In Day <2> for Accountability on January 9.

1. Wish I could be there.
This is some good stuff. You guys up in Mass get everything stirred up and us Virginians will hop on board. Can you work in "taxation without representation." Seriously, this is great news. I've been sending Cong. Moran messages along these lines for the past several months. I always get a nice reply.

And here is is with JACK MURTHA! Wow. This is Thursday and I have to go to a DEM organizing committee that day @$@%^ But that's OK, somebody else can take my place because I'm already sold.

Thanks for posting this.

2. You guys up in Mass get everything stirred up
Guess that's the way it is. We spill the tea, you draft the resulting document.

Two things to say about this, though.

1. I'm glad to see Rep. Moran is "keeping on". He was here a couple weeks ago for a forum on torture sponsored by Rep. Meehan and attended by Rep. Conyers and others.

2. This Saturday's event is NATIONAL. It's been on the ADS website for weeks. The link - www.afterdowningstreet.org/event - does several things:

A. Look-up events in your area.
B. Organize an event of your own.
C. Print material to use in the forum.

Now a question to DU as a whole.....IS THIS GOING TO BE ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF A RESOURCE WASTED, ARE YOU GOING TO SIT AND WHINE, OR ARE YOU GOING TO PARTICIPATE IN A LOCAL EVENT?

p.s. to rank - for zip code 20001 (Washington DC, you can substitute your own), the events are:

Events within 30 miles of your location

4. I get the impression that people think there is only one event.
I get the impression that people think there is only one event.

There are at least 60 nationwide.

Have you gone to www.afterdowningstreet/event and searched for ones in/near your zip code?

5. Here are the 70 national events (more are being added)
From David Swanson

Out of Iraq Events Planned Nationwide on January 7th

National Call-In Day on Accountability Planned for January 9th

International Commission Taking "Indictments" to White House January 9th

Out of Iraq Events Planned in Over 70 Cities

Local organizations have planned over 70 Out of Iraq events around the country on or about January 7th. (See list at bottom.) Most of the events are town hall forums, and several will feature members of Congress, including Bobby Scott, Diane Watson, Jim McDermott, Adam Smith, Bob Filner, Martin Sabo, Jim Moran, and John Murtha. Several other events will feature congressional staff, congressional and senatorial candidates, local elected officials, and leaders of the peace movement, including Gold Star Families for Peace founder Cindy Sheehan, and After Downing Street Co-Founder John Bonifaz.

While all of these events will focus on ending the war, many of them will also address Congressman John Conyers' new resolutions to censure President Bush and Vice President Cheney and to create a select committee to investigate and make recommendations on impeachment.

Tim Carpenter, Director of Progressive Democrats of America and Co-Founder of After Downing Street, said: "Progressive Democrats of America is proud to be working with grassroots organizations across the country to mobilize and organize a broad-based coalition to call for an end to the Occupation of Iraq and demand action from Congress to investigate the lies of the Bush administration and their conduct regarding the Iraq War."

The events are listed at the bottom of this release, and can be found at

http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/event

National Call-In Day on Accountability Planned for January 9th

Tens of thousands of members of Progressive Democrats of America and other organizational members of the After Downing Street Coalition will phone Members of Congress in their district offices on January 9, urging them to cosponsor three bills: H.Res.635 to create a select committee to investigate and to make recommendations on grounds for impeachment, H.Res.636 to censure Bush, and H.Res.637 to censure Cheney.

International Commission Taking "Indictments" to White House January 9th

On January 9, the International Commission of Inquiry on Crimes Against Humanity By the Bush Administration will serve indictments on the White House for its wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, its actions and policies on torture and illegal detention, its promotion of abstinence-only in the midst of the HIV/AIDS pandemic, its fueling of global warming, and its response to Hurricane Katrina. This is in preparation for its January 20-22 hearings at Riverside Church and Columbia Law School in New York City (where the Administration will be invited to present a defense). See www.bushcommission.org for details.
