Last time I checked, cars don't run using nuclear reactors.

are right now entering the Biodiesel field in a big way, with plants going up that will produce mammoth amounts of the fuel in the midwest. The initial target market is transportation, with long distance truckers an obvious one. Trucks can burn bio with no modification- and you have a customer base that is receptive to the patriotic argument for the switch. That's why Willie Nelson is spending his time preaching biodiesel at truckstops around the country.
an example of an impending paradigm shift that will, as usual, take the media by surprise...

Sweden: Population: 9,001,774 (July 2005 est.) Oil - consumption: 346,100 bbl/day (2003 est.) Consumption per person per day: .038 bbl
US: Population: 295,734,134 (July 2005 est.) Oil - consumption: 20.03 million bbl/day (2003 est.) Consumption per person per day: .068 bbl
Our oil consumption per person is double that of Sweden.
The source for these figures is the CIA world factbook, except for the per-person figures, which I did.
