Bush arrives at Randolph AFB, San Antonio, TX (Purple Heart to wounded)
Edited on Sun Jan-01-06 10:01 AM by IndianaGreen
A live shot of his arrival was just shown on CNN. Bush will visit the Brook Army Medical Center.

CNN showed a live shot! Looks like this is going to be a big show for Bush, but this time he will be using wounded soldiers as props.

Our Sgt Jerry Majetich is going to be presented with the Purple Heart today! Bush will spent a few minutes of a photo op with Jerry. Jerry and his family will have a lifetime to deal with his horrible wounds that he got because Bush wanted to outdo his dad on Iraq.

Related thread on Jerry:

On New Years Day, Bush will present Purple Heart to our Sgt. Jerry M.

This is being widely reported by San Antonio media and MSM:

President Bush is planning on stopping in San Antonio this weekend. The president is scheduled to arrive in the Alamo City Sunday morning. He's making a quick stop at BAMC to visit with wounded troops. President Bush is making the trip on his way back to Washington, D.C. after spending the holidays at his Crawford ranch.

1. I have been wondering how Bush can look at those terribly wounded
and not feel a twinge of conscience. When will he realize we are all related, that what happens to one happens, indeed, to all? I read about Jerry and his ordeal and it has bothered me a great deal. I hope that he is given the strength to learn the lessons of this life and that his family becomes stronger because of what has happened. Ho Metaquiatson!

2. Maybe...
Bush is just there to show him the band-aid on his finger and call him a liar.

3. A Bush photo-op w/ horribly disfigured vets? That would be a first.
I've read the tragic history of the multiple injuries and medical treatments of Sgt. Majetich. (Both ears burned off; most fingers amputated; skin grafts all over his face, arms, legs, etc.) I can't believe Bush would allow photos of his face next to the Sgt.'s. Either the Sgt.'s head will be swathed in crisp white bandages, with just the eyes showing, or the photos will be from an angle flattering Bush and only showing the Sgt. from the back.

And as someone else mentioned, the GOP's making a joke with the Purple Heart bandages at their convention is brought to mind. They ridiculed and demeaned the medal and the valor of every one who was ever awarded it.

5. I wonder if the soliders Murtha talked about
in his press conference got their purple hearts. I remember he told about one guy who didn't get a purple heart because he wasn't hurt in action (or something like that) and Murtha told him he could have one of his.

6. In response to news Purple Hearts for Iraq war are few and far between
Last week it was reported there were less Purple Hearts being presented now than during Vietnam and the first Gulf War, even though deaths and woundings are greater now than during the first 3 years of the Vietnam war.

Someone at the WH must have read the report.
