2. Very cool.
Thanks, Skinner. I don't usually have a lot of time to visit blogs and attend to them with the attention they deserve. I usually end up getting point to them by someone else.

ADMINISTRATION
Cheney 'Authorized' Libby to Leak Classified Information

By Murray Waas, National Journal
© National Journal Group Inc.
Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006

Vice President Dick Cheney's former chief of staff, I. Lewis (Scooter) Libby, testified to a federal grand jury that he had been "authorized" by Cheney and other White House "superiors" in the summer of 2003 to disclose classified information to journalists to defend the Bush administration's use of prewar intelligence in making the case to go to war with Iraq, according to attorneys familiar with the matter, and to court records.

According to sources with firsthand knowledge, Cheney authorized Libby to release additional classified information, including details of the NIE, to defend the administration's use of prewar intelligence in making the case for war.

Libby specifically claimed that in one instance he had been authorized to divulge portions of a then-still highly classified National Intelligence Estimate regarding Saddam Hussein's purported efforts to develop nuclear weapons, according to correspondence recently filed in federal court by special prosecutor Patrick J. Fitzgerald.

Beyond what was stated in the court paper, say people with firsthand knowledge of the matter, Libby also indicated what he will offer as a broad defense during his upcoming criminal trial: that Vice President Cheney and other senior Bush administration officials had earlier encouraged and authorized him to share classified information with journalists to build public support for going to war. Later, after the war began in 2003, Cheney authorized Libby to release additional classified information, including details of the NIE, to defend the administration's use of prewar intelligence in making the case for war.

6. crap she missed a good opportunity

a woman called and defended bush about spying and how it could have prevented 9/11. She replied that it irritated her they had plenty of warnings yet did nothing. She could have mentioned they were spying on us way before 9/11 and didn't. :(

8. But notice, she's very careful to establish a point of agreement
before she moves to her point.

This is a winning strategy. It is simple and it works invariably.

12. I think she answered very well
but to point out the spying happened before 9/11 would have set Brian off. He would have accused it of being a conspiricay and it would have been very cool to see him have to face the facts.

14. I don't think that's possible in this venue -- but maybe
that's just me.

She's doing the possible, imho. What I love about what she's doing is not moving to "win" but moving to engage, really engage. She's a terrific communicator. We need an army o' this DUer. :)

9. That Woman Doesn't Mind Being Spied On
There is no point in telling those people that. The point needs to be made that we can't let terrorists destroy the liberties and freedoms Americans have. That is what is happening. We also have to make the point that spying can be done legally.

7. What a Wonderful Response She Just Gave
Liberty and freedom need to go on even if lives are lost. That is what Bush and the repugs need to remember. WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE. Just because people die doesn't mean a society, a culture, a country need to die. Dems running for office need to focus on that one statement.

21. I agree...one of the best I've seen.
I'd never heard of her blog. More importantly, I rarely watch CSPAN in the morning. It's like a sleeping pill just as you've climbed out of bed. Plus, every time I do watch, it seems like a right-wing shill fest. But after half an hour of the Cabal News Network Morning Comedy Fest, I couldn't take it anymore, and switched to CSPAN just for something different. I was very pleasantly surprised at this interview. A most intelligent, articulate woman who came armed with facts and presented them in a calm, reasonable way. She was a delight.

today. Stay tuned this morning to the hearing in which Brownie hopefully will get his tush roasted.

23. CSPAN is causing a crisis in my marriage. lol
Because I cannot watch teevee news any more without wanting to throw things. And CSPAN is too sleepy for my partner.

Barbara's comment that the Right and the Left are living in parallel experiences is dead on.

And sometimes, the Left and the Left, too. :P
