DeLay denies friendship with Abramhoff !
February 9 - Speaking of Tom DeLay and brain damage, Roll Call (subscription only) today wrote --

Rep. Tom DeLay (R-Texas), in a new letter to thousands of GOP voters in his district, has denied having close ties to former lobbyist Jack Abramoff, writing that it was “absolutely untrue” that the two were “close personal friends.”

The actual letter says,

“The reality is, Jack Abramoff and I were not close personal friends. I met with him only occasionally, in fact less frequently than numerous others who brought issues before Congress — never did he receive preferential treatment."

"When one of my closest and dearest friends, Jack Abramoff, your most able representative in Washington, D.C., invited me to the islands, I wanted to see firsthand the free-market success and the progress and reform you have made," - Tom Delay, 1997

8. Well, Tommy Boy...
"Splain that, why don't ya. Oh wait a minute, I guess it's a false put up, a democratic frame-up, right? Man, there are some of us out here in the provinces that actually read, have a relatively good memory and stay of copious amounts of liquor, weed and crack.

6. I have a hard time believing that Tom DeLay has ANY
close personal friends. But that's a completely different issue.

7. Are there not direct quotes from him in the public domain that
completely contradict that statement?

You know, like this one:

Rep. Thomas DeLay (R-Tex.): DeLay was one of the most powerful leaders on Capitol Hill before he was indicted on campaign finance charges in September 2005 and temporarily resigned as House majority leader. Abramoff, whom DeLay once called "one of my closest and dearest friends," held fundraisers for the congressman and arranged for DeLay to accompany him on a luxury golf trip to Scotland and a trip to the Northern Mariana Islands. Abramoff also maintained close ties with DeLay aides.

I guess he needs to come out and say this, now that he'll, you know, be on the sub-committee that is directly involved with the Abramoff investigation. It is like living in the damned Twilight Zone.

11. Why Should The Weaseldick Stop Lying Now?
That dude surely has a pair of big brass ones. I think this guy believes his own press clippings and "the legend"...kinda like the Edward G. Robinson character in "Little Caesar"...DeLay is Rico...living in this myth that he wove about himself and intimidated into those who were around him.

As I've said in the past, until they drive the silver stake in the bastard's chest cavity (there's surely no heart in there), he'll continue to proclaim his "innocence" and continue to intimidate those around him. He's got a lot of dirt of folks all over the hill and you're seeing how this is keeping him in power despite all his legal messes. It's also a continuing indictment of how corrupt the Repugnicans have become.

So keep on flapping the trap and digging the hole deeper, Hammer. Looks like Mr. Earle has linked up with the Cunningham/MZB people and is also working with the DC probe. The noose is tightening. Methinks the least problems Mr. DeLay will have come November will be thinking about winning back his house seat...he'll be needed to stock up cigs for his new roommate...Bubba.
