So, what groups get off their asses and actually vote this year? |
|
Republican voters ----------------- Former Democrats that are so scared by terrorists that they will vote Republican just to protect Bush? Limbaugh, Hannity, Fox News fans that will vote Republican just to keep the mean and angry libruls from winning? Radical Christians that believe killing hundreds of thousands of people in illegal wars is no big deal as long as abortion is legal and gays want to get married? Tax hating fascists?
Democratic voters ----------------- College Students pissed about Bush taking away Student Loans? African Americans pissed about the Katrina response, and the attack on King funeral? Older folks pissed about Medicare plan, Prescription Drug prices? Anti-Bush Kerry voters that usually don't vote in non-Presidential elections? Past Republicans voters that are pissed with "this" GOP? Will 2000' and 2004' Bush/Republican voters stay home and not vote?
Others?

3. The environmentally concerned. |
|
The thugs have been going after the environment at the bidding of their corporate masters hammer and tong. They ignore Climate Change when it is more and more in our face. Forests, air, water, endangered species and biodiversity in general, all are on the block. Concern for these things cut across party lines among the rank & file. Witness the outrage of ourdoors folks to many of the bu$histas proposals. The oil drilling in the Gulf could give us a serious boost in Florida.
Why does the Democratic Party not exploit this, why didn't Kerry, with his excellent environmental record? While I realize it is not an issue that will put the Dems over the top single handed(though it should) it is certainly an important shaft in the quiver. I can only conclude that some (can you say DLC?) are deep in the pockets of the same folks that own the Rethugs.

4. Radical Christians voting GOP may be joined by average Christians |
|
There are many who see the Democratic Party being taken over by atheists who ridicule and mock believers.
Indeed when I try to find out why middle of the road and left of center Christians refuse to vote the answer is they do not want to vote for the GOP and they will not vote for a Democratic party where they are treated like crap.
When we discuss the constant atheist pity party that tells us "the Christians are in charge of everything" thereby giving license to atheists for both "woe is me" and "Christians are not reasoning, not logical, not scientific, not good, not having real ethics because the choose ethical behavior for the wrong reason, Christian Democrats are willing to kick atheists and gays to the curb, etc.", I tell them they need to get past that noise because the Democratic Party is 90% Christian - and that is just background noise that should not affect their vote. Indeed the you will kick us to the curb insult by a small group that rarely votes is not something to worry about. Everyone wants their issue to be first in line, and the noise by the gays and atheist are just an attempt to be first in line.
But it is hard getting the liberal Christians to vote Democratic - we should be getting 90% of the Christian vote, but we get about half.
As you say, getting groups off their asses and voting Democratic this year will not be easy.
