In a legal studies class that involved Title 8, white students were indignant that we had to give work to minority groups, because minority group businesses, "did not do as good a job, and if they don't get the business, it's because it's a reflection of the workmanship." I piped in and said that they did the work just fine, but that the problem was cronyism. I told them that the white businessmen tend to give the work to their Rotary Club buddies, who were also white, and that there has been plenty of poor workmanship in this state from white-owned businesses, but that the local government covers for them, because everything in this state is based upon cronyism.
Even the white teacher (who was in favor of strict constructionism) tried to explain that he never has had to apply for a job. He got them all from his dad who had connections at the Country Club.
One white girl was exasperated and asked when is it going to stop? I said when minorities are equally represented in political office so they can have true representation, and when they own their own Country Clubs and can play the same games.
After class, a white student confided in me that they had sabotaged a Puerto Rican paralegal in his law firm, intentionally giving him flawed work to see if he would pick up on the mistakes. The guy just came over from Puerto Rico with his pregnant wife, wasn't even on the job a few weeks, never had any on the job training, and they sabotaged him.
